A video making the rounds on the internet.

This was shot in a Walmart store last friday. The items in question are cheap mobile phones the people are after.

Imagine if there was a war on :pac:

These people haven't discovered that there's a place where you can get cheap deals all year round... it's called the internet

Jesus that's scary. I wouldn't put myself through that if they were giving shit away for free.
Imagine if there was a war on :pac:
Yeah or some kind of collapse of the system where food supplies are dwindling... understanding more now why preppers are so keen on having a gun handy.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving when retail stores in America move from the red into the black for the year, hence 'black friday'. I used to live over there....the sales that day are truly nuts!

Go to the reduced to clear section in Tesco when they start to mark down prices,it looks like a game of rugby at times.

    Thats scary.
Some of those Women were really holding their own in that melee.
Hope the person filming it wasnt doing so on one of the phones they were fighting over, cause that is one seriously ****ty camera.

temming from Black Friday unruliness in 2011, 73-year old greeter Jan Sullivan was fired from a Tampa area Wal-Mart after she was shoved by a Black Friday shopper. Sullivan alleges that when she attempted to stop an unnamed woman from exiting through a door where exits were not being permitted, the woman pushed her. Sullivan claims that as she fell, she instinctively tried to grab onto the woman to keep from falling. Since Wal-Mart employees are not allowed to touch customers, Sullivan was then fired. The story has been a source of some controversy for Wal-Mart and garnered much community support for Sullivan, including media coverage and at least two Indiegogo fundraisers were launched to support her financially after the incident.

This really pisses me off. I think this "the customer is always right" attitude has gone too far. The customer is usually wrong and staff are treated like ****.
Staff have been killed because their employers put them in serious danger on Black Friday.

Jaysus, watching that really made me feel like part of the upper echelons of human kind.

    I feel smugly superior.

How much do they usually discount the stock by? I can't think of something that I'd want bad enough to have to endure that bullsh/t. I hate people standing too close behind me at the checkout ffs.

Especially the people who also jingle their coins in an impatient manner while I'm dealing with the cashier. As if that's going to speed up the process. I don't often have to restrain myself from punching someone in the face, but those people try me.

A sad and pathetic exemplificationof our continous and neverending materialistic obsession... but hey, got to feed the kids , right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,198 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Sad knowing how much the human race can achieve, and then see this to see how low it can set its aspirations.

Fighting over junk mobile phones the place probably wants rid off anyway.

And all to quench our desire to have more 'stuff'.

it's advertising gold for walmarts etc.

deaths linked to it in 2010 were 5 or 6.

someday they'll get sued. until then, it's free world wide advertising (if loss of life is defined as free - and i think on most balance sheets, it is)

This video is actually interesting when you stop and watch different people.

    - White guy with the brown shirt and the start of the video.
Watch as he yanks a box out of a girls hands. Gets pulled back by another dude. Brown Shirt guy then wraps his arms around that guys throat. Only to be pushed away (looks like then his box was snatched from him)

I dont know if people will agree with me on this one, but I think thats the real world right there. Its my 'gain' over yours. No morals or ethics. Its fuck you, all about me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Smidge

Check out the woman @ 1.08 in the clip. She has managed to wrangle her goods then some black puts his hand over her mouth and "liberates" the item from her.

There's also a big guy in a brownish t-shirt at the start of the clip reefing women around for the stuff

Wouldn't catch me at anything like that, not that desperate to buy sh*t that I would risk that kind of treatment.

Got there before me B.A !!!

If you like to think that me, you and everyone else will play fair and be civil to each other :)

The other is that we all will fuck each other over when it comes down to our own personal gain no matter how big or small ;)

But here's another good point :) Can you give me an example of when people where pushing each other out of the way to help others?

People who need help aren't a commodity, there are loads of them. There would never be a need to push anyone out of the way.

    Exactly.
So re-read what you quoted and said to me. Personal gain my friend. Personal gain.

Do you think I am not aware that there are people who exist that will do anything for their own gain? There's a video above showing what happens when you take a load of them and pack them into a room together.

What I am disputing is your assertion that we are all like that. Clearly false.

The typical response. Playing the card "not everyone is!" - but not acknowledging most are.

I want you to go back and see how i didnt state everyone. then reply to me :)

If you would describe this as a "typical response" to the statements that you tend to make, you should think about making less fallacious statements.

Man you are playing so hard to be right arent you :) Lets look at the video again

    - Mothers
    - Fathers
    - Sons
    - Daugthers
    - Regurlar people just like me and you.

Given the chance to step over other people for 'personal gain' - thats my point. when it comes down to it. every man and woman for themselves (even with small things that dont matter, aka the video) Yes now i am saying everyone ...

I can't be bothered to keep arguing against this. What your saying should be self-evidently rubbish.

"Look at this video, some A are B, therefore all A are B!"

No, my friend, that's called the fallacy of composition. This discussion is going nowhere.

That first video seems to just show some ppl rushing into a shop. And then just kind of milling around. I didn't see people punching and grabbing.

And the second video was uploaded by an american.
