Mc Gregor, Fields & SBG got a nice mention on Inside MMA a couple of weeks ago, Bas & Kenny even talked about getting them both on the show for Paddy's day next year. Hopefully they keep up their winning ways & that happens. It would be great exposure for Irish MMA.

Time to start announcing some of what you can expect, as well as McGregor v Alers, on New Year's Eve.

First up, Aisling Daly v Katja Kankaanpaa and Liam James v Alan Philpott...

Great to see Philpott staying so busy, has been very impressive recently, should be a great fight

Ais Daly is always in exciting fights, and its good to see her starting to drop down to Strawweight

The card is starting to come together nicely

She dropped to 115 before and lost, and attributed the loss to a tough weight cut. This fight is at a 120lbs catch weight.

She has stated in the media that she'll be going down to 115, though. She's said she didn't have to cut much last time around.

Personally I think she'll be a serious contender for best in the world at that weight once she's used to it, having being in the top 5 at 125 the last few years. Still a very young lady with an lot of time on her hands but also has an incredible amount of experience behind her.

This card is going to be amazing. I hope spatulas are at the ready, because someone's gonna need to scrape me off something and fling me into work the following day!

Main card will kick off at 9pm but there'll be an undercard of three amateur fights that will start at 6-6.30pm, followed by the Facebook prelims.

Impossible to say as it obviously depends on previous fights but the show should be wrapped up before 11pm.

    Interview with Paul Redmond
It has been a great few months for you, coming off 2 very impressive wins in Cage Warriors, both by finish, can you talk to us about this?

Yeah, I’ve been putting alot of hours on the mats, the gym nutrition, strength and training and I think it’s really starting to show. I think people are just starting to notice me now because I’m fighting on such a big show like Cage Warriors

It seems to us, that you have come on leaps and bounds in the last 9 months, would you say this is the case, or is it like you say just a case of people finally noticing?

I agree, I think I have improved the past year or so and it’s all been down to the team I’m with our coach Andy is brilliant and with some of the best in Europe in Neil Seery, John Donnelly etc and you can only get better with people like that in the gym.

If you’re not improving then other fighters will just pass you by and you’ll get left behind

This has been a great year for you and for Team Ryano, what goals, if any, have you set for yourself for 2013?

Well I’m not looking past my next opponent in Ryan Roddy. He’s unbeaten in his pro career so I’m just focused on that at the minute.

As far as 2013, I’m hoping to get to the states again to train, as I’ve been in American Top Team in 2011 and just learned so much but in fighting I just want to keep putting on good fights on Cage Warriors and who knows from there.

Talk to us about your record on Sherdog, you’re listed as 4-3 as a professional, but they have listed 2 wins as Amateur fights, even thought they took place after you’re 1st listed Pro fight, is this correct?

All my fights that are on Sherdog are professional, even if listed as amateur.

I am 5-3 as a pro, as one promotion still haven’t posted my results on Sherdog from a fight in Wrexham, Wales last year… very frustrating

It has just been announced that you’re fighting at Cage Warriors 51, What do you know about your upcoming opponent Ryan Roddy?

Not a whole lot. I know he’s a purple belt in jits, he’s unbeaten, and he’s beaten some tough guys in Ali McLean, Dec Larkin etc

    More at http://severemma.com/2012/12/03/interview-team-ryanos-paul-redser-redmond-talks-upcoming-cage-warriors-bout-and-more/

    Interview with Ryan Roddy
Your Sherdog record lists you as 3-0, but you’re actually 5-0, talk to us about the two wins not listed on Sherdog.

“Yeah I’m my record is a little messed up on there, I had my first fight at 18 which was professional (polish guy, need to find the spelling) then went back and had my second fight was semi pro (against Ali McLean) then back to pro from there on out, so 1 semi pro and 5 pro.

The fights that are not on there are my last 2, one against Bobby McVitie 2 years ago and one against a Latvian guy just 3 weeks ago, named Roberts Shukjins.”

Do you know much about your upcoming opponent Paul ‘Redser’ Redmond?

“Yeah I’ve watched all his fights that I could find, he looked impressive in both his last outings on Cage Warriors, actually worryingly impressive against Lewis long lol but sure that’s the fights you want, to be tested against good guys and see where you stand!”

“I’d also have to say that starting my career in Ireland and following the scene from England I’ve always looked up the Team Ryano guys, Andy Ryan is only Ireland’s second home grown BJJ black belts and so he has done loads for the Irish scene.”

“When I attended events back home I always enjoyed watching Neil seery and John Donnelly fight, and so to fight one of their guys is great for me to test myself!”

You took a couple of years out of MMA before returning last month, why was this?

“I never actually stopped training but I wanted to focus on completing my final year at uni and graduating and MMA doesn’t pay too many bills lol”

“I’m training full time now since I left university in the summer of 2011″

I was at this last time and with pretty much all angles in the mahony hall good viewing angles i found it hard to determine which were the cheap seats.
Could you illustrate on a seating chart which areas are the €50 seats, €45 seats and €35 seats?.

I got the cheapest seats available last time they were in the Helix and they were as good as any seats in the place. Upper balcony looking over the cage. Not sure how to print an image directly onto this post so here's a link to the pic I put on twitter on the night

Yeah i noticed those balcony ones were the cheapest seats and remembered thinking they were probably the best viewing. The helix booking site has a seating chart but its obsolete for the numbers to pricing tally here.
I cant view twitter from here, ill check your link later thanks.

    ________

Professional Fighter Predictions for Cage Warriors 51 main event, McGregor vs Buchinger

    propicks_mcgregor.jpg

With Cage Warriors 51 on New Year’s Eve just around the corner, we caught up with a few professional fighters to get their predictions for the main event, Conor McGregor vs Ivan Buchinger for the lightweight championship.

McGregor is attempting to become the first ever Cage Warriors multi-weight champion, as he already holds the featherweight strap.

Jim Alers - Conor by KO in the 2nd round

Luke Barnatt – Conor McGregor in Dublin on NYE?!? How can he lose. Round 2 TKO

Jack Mason – I’m going for McGregor TKO round 3!

Martin Stapleton - On paper Buchinger is probably the favourite as he has the record and the experience on his side aswell as the fact he is a natural Lightweight where as McGregor is moving up. However Conor McGregor is getting better and better with every performance and shows composure in the cage like that of a 20 fight veteran. I think Conor’s aggression, desire and belief in himself will be the deciding factor in this fight and i’m going with Conor to win late in the second round by TKO after a close and physical first round. This will be fight of the night!

Chris Stringer – McGregor has got this all day long, he’s relaxed & comfortable with his striking but comes forward & believes in his abilities. He’ll tko late in the 2nd.

Ali Maclean – Conor via first, maybe second round KO or TKO. Ivan will probably be spending the start of his new year concussed
