I've studied all the robot uprising TV shows and movies in depth and the way to beat them is to implant one with a virus that spreads from one to another over their network.

its ok, WOPR will kick Skynet's ass, maybe they will have a game of chess instead?

Is it cool if I stand on the table while the lawnmower is freaking out on the ground?

Having studied all the alien invasion movies I can confirm that all technology is susceptible to viruses from Windows 95 laptops!

I love the way these "researchers" can come up with this kind of sh!t and call it work.

Risk of robot uprising wiping out human race to be studied

Cambridge researchers are to assess whether technology could end up destroying human civilisation.
The Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER) will study dangers posed by biotechnology, artificial life, nanotechnology and climate change.

They will be defeated by batteries. Apart from remote controls(which everyone knows run forever on even totally flat batteries), anything that has a battery is fecked pretty rapido. last time I checked, robots had batteries.

The scientists said that to dismiss concerns of a potential robot uprising would be "dangerous".

How in the name of sense did these "scientists" manage to wrangle funding for this "research".

They definitley sat around smoking weed, watching Robocop and Irobot and the like.

What's the rock for? Does the mower know how to get up my stairs? What if I manage to get on the back of it before it goes mental......I could take it from behind by surprise like!

Wait, has anyone told Arnie yet?

after studying mechatronics and robotics for 8 friggin years i would happily throw money at such research.

From working with robotics during my time,i found that robots always conflict with each other.

you have 2 options with the rock,

    1. throw it and hope mower thinks its a dog and will run or drive after it or
    2. blunt its blades with it.

on your question on whether it can climb your stairs , i doubt it really, i think you might be safe there... unless its motor pully string thing pulls itself up there. just to be on the safe side, just have a bucket of long wet grass , that ussually does the trick with mine.

on your last one, if you take it from behind . i think you should keep your kinky sex secrets off this thread. start one up of your own if thats the subjects you really want to talk about

I'm pretty sure by the time we get to the stage that AI could destroy the human race batteries will be the least of there worries.

Unlikely. Show me one electronic device that does not require a power source... even rfid chips have to be energised..

Automated nuclear power, possibly fusion. And a system complex enough to sport killbots should have no problem with ancillary power supplies and fuel cell carrying drones and the like. That's if automated missile systems don't just blow us all to hell without the need for much work in the strictly physical.

Operator 2: No such luck– it’s solar powered

Once they successfully develop an AI software which can rewrite its own programming it will fairly quickly destroy us all. lol.

Don't worry I have a new theorem that will mean their funding can be cancelled immediately:

Can technology wipe out humanity ???

    Theorem: Erm....Yes.

    Q.E.D.

Can I have tenure please ?

Skynet could never happen. Miles Dyson blew a load of important stuff up, and John Corror fecked the rest of the important stuff into the molten stuff, so we're grand lads.
