Wooden rowing boat - recommendations for repairer

Folks, I have a small wooden boat. I'd say it's no more than 17ft long. I will try and upload a picture.

Anyways, some of the planks are soft and there are some broken ribs. I'm looking for someone to carry out the repairs.

The boat is in Greystones but I'm willing to travel with it. It's on a decent trailer.

I'd love to be able to carry out the repairs myself but I don't have the time, facilities or knowledge.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thank you.

Hi firstIn, your local carpenter should be able to do this for you for a good price as things are a bit slack out there at the moment. Be sure that the boat is worth doing as sometimes the more you work on these boats the more rot you will find and soon you will be up to the price of a new boat  Ring around and get some to come out and give you a price or even ask in woodcraft http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=530 one of the guys there might have a bit of time on their hands or if you do find a bit of time your self we will help you through it if you want to give it a go :D

Thanks for the reply Fergal. I would have thought I'd need someone with experience of wooden boats.
I'm not so sure a normal carpenter would be able to repair ribs etc. However I could well be wrong.
The boat in question is very old. It holds sentimental value for myself and my co-owner.
I will post the same query over in the woodwork forum. Good idea.
    Thank you again.

It should be just a matter of copying what you have already without the need to know how to do spilling "cutting curved planks to fit" Depending on the curve of the boat planks may need to be steamed or soaked to bend them.
If you want it done by a pro try http://www.noonanboats.com/repairs they might be able to do it for you.
    Good luck.
