    (Almost) all of the above!

I want to upgrade, win the league, win a race and improve a TT time. Seems reasonable to me!

With good form and training its reasonable:D Will probably all come at a point where form is at a peak.

    Why no option for;

Be nice to everybody and make a positive difference to the world?

Does it have to always be about personal achievements? Why can't we all just get along.

Get a few more audax's in, just maybe a first 300k if I can maintain a reasonable level of work over the winter.

:pac: I think this attitude is why I love this forum. No matter how hard you try, unless you're aiming to win the Rás or Le Tour, you'll always be a Fred. :D

    1. Easter Fleche (have threatened this for many years now, want to commit and do one in 2013).

    2. Do 10 races (mix of club league and open races).

    3. Initial aim is to get to a level where I dont get dropped. Once that is achieved I want to get in a break, get in a break that lasts and contest a sprint.

    4. If the TT league that was mooted here gets off the groound I would like to do

5 TTs on my road bike. Ideally I would like to be able to break break 32min for 20k on a road bike and then break 31min and then 30m. Tall order for me.

Do a few more audaxes and a few sportifs.

    Thats all really.

    Buy a fancy CF bike!

Go out regularly on club spins, do a couple of sportives, beat my previous best distances. Vastly improve my bike maintenance skills.

Don't intend on starting racing next year.

No burn there. I rode in the group I was allocated. As I progressed the league got cancelled. Not my fault! I stand by my stated goals plus one more - to destroy old yellar!

They were riding in the same group last year - I would add that one of them is around twice the age of the other, but seems to make up for it through his ability to hold a wheel and avoid falling into ditches ...

Guess I'll have to ride a bit of the league next year so.

TT. I did my first 40k this year on a loaned TT bike that was too small really. 54 frame. Id like my own TT bike that fits so I can really develop that part of my cycling as I like it so far the two that I've done. Only one of which was on a TT bike and 40k.

The proposed TT league would be nice.

    Win your club league.
Go on a tour for 10 days min
Cycle around Ireland (on multiple weekend tours)
    do more than 10000km
    cycle to work daily
    Avoid accidents
    finally fit mudguards

You'll defo hit over 10,000km if you do those tours and cycles around Ireland accompanied with the commute.

    Best of Luck:D

I've a couple of one-day races that I'm targeting - I'd love an outright open win. Also looking at Rás Dún na nGall - well run race, nice parcours, definitely going back for that.

As for general goals, be nice to reach the next category, but I'm not particularly aiming for that. If I achieve my wins, it'll happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Cycle a distance you never could before.
If I didn't have a screaming child hanging out of me, I'd have gone full A4 racing, but instead I'll do 3 or 4 club league races to get into it and look at open races in 2014. I had a really good year this year in terms of fitness, so I'm concerned that for the moment with the lack of training time I just won't be able to improve (or even maintain) the fitness gains I made this year.

With rests breaks and some refuelling, there shouldn't be any reason you could cover the distance over a weekend Wolfsberg. You'd be surprised at your capabilities:D

my ambition for 2013 is to complete my uncompleted ambitions from 2011 and 2012 which involves cycling approx 200km around wicklow on crowded roads and queing for crap food... just so i can say ive feckin done it!

that and go an entire year without a puncture

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭MediaMan

    Beat a previous TT time.
    1. Complete a training program that will help me with the rest of these goals
    2. Improve hill climbing times on some of those nasty Wicklow hills (they know who they are!)
    3. Do a hilly 200k in a half-decent time (~9hrs depending on how much climbing)
    4. Do a 300k one-day audax or same distance over 2 days with an overnight stop somewhere interesting

    Beat a previous TT time.
Got a tour of the UK lined up for February which includes one 600km day and at least one 300km day so that's uping the bar a bit.
Also half contemplating a trip across Europe and around the Black Sea over the summer which would be the furthest I've gone so far.

On the domestic side of things I want to show up for a few A4 races this season and not embarrass myself.

25km/hour average speed if you cycle for 24 hours straight without stopping. Serious alright.
