    Twins!! How exciting!

Do you know are they identical yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 Weafs

They are in two different sacs so they most likely won't be identical - its possible we could have a boy and a girl then if thats the case. We don't care as long as they are both fine! Plenty of hard work ahead I reckon but it will be worth it - I am very excited now that I have gotten over the initial shock!!

Ill be 13+3 for my scan :) yea after my scan ill offically announce it most people know already thou lol yep all good here finally have my energy back so feeling better.

Hey guys, had my scan last thursday - got the biggest surprise to find out I'm having twins!! Had a scare though at the weekend and was kept in overnight at the hospital at the weekend, had bleeding and a gush of water. We had a more detailed scan on Monday and the midwife was great, put alot of our fears to rest - littles ones appear to be doin well and as its twins we will be closely monitored. Back in next Monday for another scan. Please God all will go well and thats the only drama we have to face!! Hope everyone is doing ok and not too tired or ill!

Oh wow twins congrats :) id get some fright if i was told twins lol

I just found a bit of energy and got down on my hands a knees and cleaned the floors!

The worst thing for me at the minute is having to get up and pee 2-3 times a night! Otherwise I'm generally feeling good but very tired!

Well had my scan today, all is well :) 13+4 due 8th august. Next scan 4th april so 8 weeks away, should i be seeing my gp in between?? As havent got another appointment for gp but not sure when im suspose to.

According to the HSE schedule of visitis, you do not need to see your GP until 24 weeks, except in cases of a first pregnancy when you should see your chosen maternity hospital at 24 weeks instead. Then:

    30 weeks - GP
    32 weeks - Hospital
    34 weeks - GP
    36 weeks - Hospital

Then alternating weekly between GP/Hospital until 40 weeks.

I had a great week last week. We were able to pick up the baby's heartbeat with our doppler so we are very reassured :D

My work also announced that it is introducing a meternity policy so I will now get paid 50% of my salary as well as the state benefit while I am on ML!! Couldn't believe it when I heard! Best timing ever! I'm sure they will be delighted when I tell them next week :)

Where do you live? We use Ultrasound Dimensions in Blackrock for our scans. They are very good.

There is also The Ultasound Suite which are based between Bray in Wicklow and somewhere in the city. Also very good (we had one scan there) but a bit more expensive than Blackrock

Well I have a serious case of 'Baby Brain'!

I went to bed with my work phone on silent the other night when I am on call! Luckily nobody rang that night!

Then today I called into the office and completely forgot the alarm code! Managed to turn the alarm off before any security arrived but I feel like I'm a bit of a hazard to myself at the minute!

I have my scan tomorrow (If I remember who I am and when its at come the morning!) All going well we will be breaking the news to friends and family over the coming days.

I plan on telling work later in the week... This I am not looking forward to!

We are a very quiet little thread indeed! Hopefully this means there aren't too many babies due in August and the maternity hospitals will be nice and quiet when we are ready to pop!

I'm great! Got my promotion yesterday so I suppose I should think about telling work soon! My uniform is only barely doing up at this stage but with the new job I wont need a uniform so I can buy some lovely maternity office clothes!

We have told our families and they are all delighted. My daughter keeps rubbing my belly and blowing raspberries on it! She can't wait to be a big sister!

I'm 15 weeks and I feel huge. Bought new maternity clothes last week cos my jeans were so uncomfortable. My bump is well and truly showing. This is my second and I'd lost quite s bit of weight in between so I should have expected to show sooner, for both reasons.

Nausea has mostly subsided. Which is great. Last time it lasted almost to month 6. Have told close family and friends but still haven't announced to the wider circle (via Facebook). I'm a little nervous about that. I haven't worked much since I got pregnant 1st time - I'm work in theatre productions mostly - and I feel a bit of a failure when I see how much everyone else is working.

Failure is about the last word I would use for someone creating life!! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭randombar

@nicowa you'll find not as many people are working as you think, and if you had waited around until you have a full time job and everything is just right you could be waiting until it's too late so I wouldn't be worried.

She's told work at this stage so it's safe for me to join this thread.

    Due Aug 6th

Im still in my normal size clothes but bought some long tops will do me for a while. Im on antibiotics atm for a uti, seems like ive had it for the last month without knowing!! Got a letter from hospital thursday saying my urine sample showed infection & had a perscription but that sample was took 4th feb,my own doctor rang me telling to bring a sample down & that still showed infection so i was put on a different antibiotic than hospital said as this one is better for that type of infection, quiet annoyed it took nearly 4 weeks to tell me!

I cant seem to find any recent info online all from last year or before, from what ive seen people have said there a grant at around 5 months then another when nearly due to help get stuff for mam going to hospital and then something for cot & pram once baby is born. Best bet is to go to community welfare officer & see if she can get it & is it still available as it seems to change alot.

How is everyone doing? I'm 19+ weeks now and feeling lots of movement. Hubby has felt a few kicks too which is great! So reassuring!

We had a scan last weekend and the sonographer is fairly convinced we're having another girl! We couldn't be happier!

I hope everyone else is having happy, healthy pregnancies :)
