I'm quite proficient in Japanese. Not fluent at all at all though.

Ehhh I would say there's more difficult languages for sure. But probably easier ones too. It's not difficult but it's a long, slow process.

If you could speak any language which would it be?

Probably German and head to Switzerland.

White or brown sugar for your hot beverages?

White for tea, brown for coffee :)

What did you have for dinner tonight?

    Why Switzerland?

Nothing beats the smell of napalm in the morning.

Do you think Miriam O'Callaghan is cool?

I know very little of her.

    Can you speak Irish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,731 ✭✭✭✭coolhull

Couldn't hold a conversation in Irish, but would like to.

Do you think being taught Irish in school was a waste of time?

I'm not sure. Speaking Irish isn't a necessity but I think it's a nice thing for the Irish to have. It could, in some small way, slow down the death of the Irish language.

Did you enjoy Irish in school?

Sadly, no I didn't, but that had more to do with the teachers than the language itself. I probably picked up more since I left.

Were you a student in the 90s/00s?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,420 ✭✭✭✭SueBoom

I was a secondary school student in the 00s.

    What about you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,731 ✭✭✭✭coolhull

Ah, must be great to be young! Alas, my education finished in the seventies (I'm ancient)

Do you think us oldies should just be confined to discussing the price of cabbage and porter? Or do we still have a role to play, even on the interweb?

Everyone has a role. Age is merely a number my friend.

Do you feel you have a role to play?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,731 ✭✭✭✭coolhull

Absolutely. my grandkids give me amazing pleasure, and I think (hope) that I influence them too

Are you scared of getting old?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,420 ✭✭✭✭SueBoom

I'm sure your grandkids adore you! :) I'm sad to say that it's not something I look forward.

Do I have anything to worry about?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,132 ✭✭✭Just Like Heaven

According to the Mayan calendar the world is gonna end 13th October 4732. I'd be very concerned if I were you.

What was your favourite subject in secondary school?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,420 ✭✭✭✭SueBoom

    English.

    You?

Absolutely not! With age comes wisdom.... Also, unfortunately, impatience, rheumatism, crabbiness, and know-all-ism! Just kiddin! In my case, it gives me an insight into what younger people are thinking, because I've been there and done that. At least, I like to think so.

At what age do you consider someone to be 'old'?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,420 ✭✭✭✭SueBoom

    I suppose over 70.

    Is that reasonable?

Very reasonable. I have a good bit to go still before reaching that ripe old age. Maybe when I get there I'll feel differently.
Are you one of a big family?

Believe it or not, there were 10 of us in the family. Not unusual in those days.
