What 3DS games are you looking forward to?

So with all the Wii U news and big release over the next 6 months I think the 3DS will be brushed aside for a little while (be ignored a little) but there are a few games coming out that I am looking forward to.

    Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion
    Paper Mario Sticker Star
Luigis Mansion 2 (but not till after Mar 2013 as far as I know)
    Castlevania LoSMoF

Started to play Epic Mickey 1 this week on the Wii, and love it! The camera sucks but sure, doesn't take away from the actual game. Really looking forward to Power of Illusion, getting good and bad reviews, but I love the retro throw back look of it.

So what are you guys keeping an eye out for and looking forward to getting over the coming months?

Next two for me are Epic Mickey (out on Friday) and Paper Mario (out on Friday fortnight).

No release dates for Castlevania or Luigi, so there is no point in getting excited about them yet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

Yeah this Friday for Epic, not getting it on Friday tho, gonna wait a couple of weeks, see if the price goes down.

Listening to a review for Sticker Star at the mo, saying its less RPG now, but better than Super Paper Mario. I played SPM back when it was out, got bored half way through and never went back, although it looked deadly with the flip to 3d an all.

Seems kinda bare coming up to Xmas for the 3ds, is there anything else coming out thats going to be awesome?

I'm looking forward to exactly the same stuff, especially Paper Mario. I'm trying not to look forward to Luigis Mansion or Castlevania too much, mainly because we have no idea when they're actully out, but it's difficult when there are so few other games on the horizon (that have been announced anyway).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,266 ✭✭✭00sully

getting the new Layton for xmas so looking forward to that :) also some downloadable titles might do me in the mean time - nightsky and I'm still waiting to play cave story 3d that game is hard to find but I thought it was coming to the eShop?

Shin Megami Tensei 4 is going to be ****ing amazing if strange journey was anything to go by. Also can't wait for Etrian Odyssey 4.

Came out 2 weeks ago in the States. No release date for Europe yet.

I played Paper Mario for about a minute at Mario Fest, it seemed nice.

Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion are the main ones I'm looking forward to, but I'm also considering Layton...

    Luigi mansion 2
    epic mickey
    paper mario sticker

still need to pick up kingdom hearts 3ds
    kid icarus

    Curses My expensive hobby

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,555 ✭✭✭Kinski

Kid Icarus is okay at best...just wait until Treasure release their 3DS game, then we'll have a proper rail-shooter (not that that will be any time soon.)

Looking forward to Paper Mario. Bit sceptical about Castlevania because it's a 3D game (in the traditional sense of 3D environments), tbh. Curious too about Virtue's Last Reward, the follow-up to acclaimed interactive-story/puzzle-game thing 9 Hours..., which apparently had a great story. There's a demo up on eShop at the moment, but not played it yet.

Keep an eye out for Virtue's Last Reward too, it out Friday and getting great reviews. Seems to be a real GTR style game.
Looking further ahead we have Layton vs Phoenix Wright(which I am anticipating at unhealthy levels), Fantasy life is a game that needs more attention, Animal Crossing and isn't there a Fire Emblem due soon too.

Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage ?!
Its out in the US today, but, of course, no EU release date

I think I'll pass on Epic Mickey for the moment. According to IGN's review, you can finish it in one sitting. As the review said, that might be fine in a downloaded title, but it's not good for a full priced boxed title.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

Yeah thats terrible! It seems like a brilliant game but why did they make it so short?
I'll wait until I can get it for €5 or something now.
It seems all reviews I have read on this game over the past couple of days have been good except for the length of the game. €40 for a 3hr game? I think nowt!
    Very disappointed.

Here, I was thinking, since some of the Illusion games came out for the Mega Drive & GameGear, does anyone think Ninty was be crazy to pass up on releasing at least one of these games on the eshop?
Would it happen? I want it to happen.

I'm not sure but I think there might be licencing issues with re-releasing them. Sega developed and published them but don't have the rights anymore. I'd say it's not possible unfortunately.

Feck the Megadrive. Magical Quest please. :)

Were any of these games release on the Wii's VC?

Virtues Last Reward - loved 999 and have this pre-ordered. First game I've ever pre-ordered!

Paper Mario - I too played it at Mario Fest but probably only for 30 seconds mainly because I was already sold on it and I don't like replaying parts of games.

Dempa Men - Dam America having it and us not having a release date other then before Christmas

Looking forward to Castlevania, and eagerly awaiting news of the next 3d zelda.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

Anyone know if Adventure Time will be released in Europe?

Reviews for it seem to be great! Meant to take a leaf out of the Zelda II book, a spiritual successor so to speak.

If you were hoping to get Virtues Last Reward in the shops, grab it if you see it. Not sure if it got (or will get) a wide release, but there was no sign in my local Gamestop or Xtravision.

Might pick it up online next week.

Ordered it about a month ago from Amazon due on Monday :) Am excited! I think it may be available as a digital download too.

On another note, I'm jealous of the pre-order bonus for Virtues Last Resort and collector's addition Adventure time in the US. For anyone who hasn't seen:

So did anybody pick up Virtues Last Reward or Epic Mickey Power of Elusion yesterday, any thoughts on them?
What the hell is Adventure time anyway?

The tv show or the game? She's in a fair few episodes of the tv show. Don't know about the game.

Virtue's Last Reward seemed good going by the demo. Am hoping I'll find it cheaper than the €40 it costs for the digital version from the eshop.

Luigi's Mansion is the only game I've been waiting for. When it'll be out, I'll never know.

    Layton Vs Ace Attorney!

    I NEED IT!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Luigis Mansion, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Phoenix Wright Vs Professor Layton

All sequels, but I can't wait to play them.

Virtue's is just £22.50 on amazon, works out at about €29, you'll need to add something else to qualify for free shipping (for orders over £25). I've ordered Bit Trip Saga with it for some extra 3ds fun. :)

Argh no sign of Virtues last reward in HMV or Gamestop. Anyone find it anywhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Not in Smyths or Xtravision either. Going to grab it on Amazon I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,134 ✭✭✭gubbie

I picked it up from Amazon. It arrived today!

    Any thoughts so far?
If I order off amazon(signed up months ago but may use it now) do I have to be home to collect it and will I need to sign up for anything to get the free delivery?

Have only been able to play it for an hour which I've really enjoyed. I've just gotten past the equivalent of the flooding cabin from 999. It is weird having the Japanese audio, it's a bit haunting with the odd bit of familiar words such as "NNOOOONNNAAARRRRYYYY GGGAAAAMMMMEEE" (actual quote!).

You don't need to be home. Mine arrived in the post box. It comes in a cardboard package slightly bigger then the actual game

I think it's official that I have too many games

So, Paper Mario is out this Friday, I am in two minds on getting it. Its getting very mixed reviews. Anyone else getting it? Anyone even had a chance to play it yet?

My sister's getting it for me for Christmas so can't play it till the 20th when we're exchanging presents. Looking forward to it although worried about a few things I've read about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

Yeah just no 100% sure about it. Sounds like something I would like, less RPG more exploring. But the price of using stickers in the game cost a lot of coins and seems to have pissed a lot of reviewers off.

At this stage at €45 a pop for a Mario game that will never go down in price.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I'll be buying, definitely. Looking forward to it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,555 ✭✭✭Kinski

Of reviewers I trust, Edge love it and Gamecentral hate it. What to do...

Edit: Oh, and there's no stats according to the GC review, which sounds a bit **** given it's supposed to be an RPG. Think I'll swerve it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,681 ✭✭✭Wolverine359

Yeah I have a lot of respect for GameCentral's reviews, and I was pretty upset with their reaction to it today, but I'm still definitely buying Paper Mario SS. They emphasised how it would be a disappointment to fans of the previous games, but since this'll be my first ever one, I should be okay. Must play the wii version next, then the Thousand Year Door which I bought ages ago but never played. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,134 ✭✭✭gubbie

Now to add to my list of games I'm looking forward to:

Picross e2: I love Picross. Would have preferred the Japanese one that contains Nintendo themed pictures

    tumblr_maboegl5nY1r4yzs3o1_1280.png

I think Harmoknight looks great, like a mix between Rhythm Heaven and Mario Bros. I think it'll all depend on price this one so if I can pick it up cheaper it's a win

And finally a date for Luigi's Mansion 2. Will have to dust off Luigi's Mansion and give it a spin before this comes out.

Don't care for Animal Crossing. I got the ds one, but just couldn't see what everyone liked about it. I popped the cartridge in the other day and all my residents looked very depressed.

Lol yeah what was that all about. Looked RUB-BISH!
    Will people actually buy it???

So yeah going to pick up PM:SS tomorrow, anyone know of anywhere doing it for less than the normal €45 (besides Smyths with their discount card)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,836 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Maybe try argos tomorrow? They don't have it online at the moment since don't think they do preorders but I remember a guy here looking for Halo 4 on release day and got it cheapest in Argos. I've seen other games on there cheaper for the first week, at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I'll be in town early tomorrow, I'll price HMV, Gamestop and Argos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

So, went into HMV on Henry st, didnt see PM:SS anywhere in the shop!
Asked the girl behind the counter and she said, I have never heard of it, I said its out today, she checked the system, it says its out in 2014! UGH? Please keep in mind, this girl knew evrything about the Wii U last monday and sold one to my mate when I was there so she does work in the games department in HMV.

Went into Gamestop (I know) and got it for €45. Will play it tonight when I get home form work.

    Eh, whats up with HMV?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

HMV didn't have it in stock (but the guy did hear of it). He just said it hasn't arrived yet. He looked it up and it was €45 in the system.

Gamestop was also €45. I had a €20 One4All voucher, so I picked it up there for €25.

    It wasn't in Argos.
