Another nice weekend of racing coming this weekend...betfair chase, coral hurdle and the amlin chase...

Very excited about cleaning up this weekend :-)..his price will be pretty generous due to his unpopularity of late but going right handed and how appalling his jumping is (severely right) I can see him gain ground on every turn :-)
Captain chris for the amlin is who im gojng to back and am prepared to take dogs abuse for it :-) all the for non stop and champion court lovers out there!
and when my tron comes in with either imperial commander or long run hopefully the former I will credit your boards account with 5 euro each...

I've changed the title to include the magic word.

What made me think Cue Card was in the Betfair?? At the likely odds, I'll be backing Weird Al each way at 12/1. Won the Charlie Hall fresh last year and ran a good race in this

Channel 4 had him in their list at 7/1. Now the Commander is 9/2 :(. Looks an each bet to nothing, gonna sit on Saturday and see if the public lump into Silvi and Long Run.

Still 6-1 from an uncharacteristically generous ladvrokes

For me Betfair chase is between Long Run, Silvianaco Conti and Tidal Bay. Leaning towards first 2 atm. Cannington Brook, Weird Al, Midnight Chase and Wayward prince probably aren't good enough. The Giant Bolster is a bit of a Cheltenham specialist plenty of good form there, average other places. Tidal Bay is moody but if it's a going day he's got a good chance. Long Run would put me off because of the clown riding him, terrible jockey imo, his reappearances haven't been great either 3rd in the Paddypower and 2nd last year. Silvianco Conti is fit and should give a good account will look again when the field is confirmed.

I agree re long run and silvianaco conti has it all to prove in this company which I think he will. I can't have tidal bay at all, too unpredictable and over fences I don't think he'll be good enough in this company.
Re the giant bolster I think the extra distance in the GC worked in his favour. I am hoping weird al can give a good account, runs well fresh had an unlucky run of things towards the end of last year bursting blood vessel etc. ran nicely in this race last year although it seems he needs nearly 2 seconds on the bridle before he jumps every fence which cost him ground last year entering the straight. Anyone know why a jockey needs to do this..prevent bad jumping???
I will put an each way on him and midnight chase at a price (33-1)
Long run will go in my megatron as I think he is going to win the race..

Does anyone know what the forecast is for haydock at the weekend?

Oscar whisky will win the coral hurdle in ascot and I think the amlin chase is wide open will be a cracker.. It's one I think will be hard to bet on. Captain chris could go off a nice price and I might take a small ew punt... I'm not sure if the course plays to Finians rainbows strengths although its hard to know he's so versatile.
.but disregarding my comments earler in the week I have to say I fancy champion court to win this

Looking at the fixed brush hurdle, does anyone else think it was a bit harsh to put up Sivola de Sivola six pounds after his last run

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

only 6 run in the Betfair Chase, Tidal Bay & Midnight Chase not running

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Terrible turn out for some of the big races tomorrow. Declarations have been reopened for the Amlin and Coral.
Provisional decs: Amlin- Captain Chris,Finian's Rainbow,For Non Stop,Ghizao,Quincy Des Pictons

    Coral-Get me Out of Here,Oscar's Whisky,Brampour,Raya Star

Silvianco Conti has never run on anything softer than Good to Soft. I like him but that is putting me off. I certainly wouldn't back Long Run at 5/4 or so, but he's drifting and if he hits 2's i might rethink. Weird Al possibly for me. Have to look at the race a bit more though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

I think Long Run looked an out & out stayer last year. As such a slog might actually be in his favour. Timeform have him 14lbs clear. I'd no intention of getting involved at the start of the week but he's 2.8 on Betfair so 2/1 may not actually be out of the question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,408 ✭✭✭ft9

If a jockey was riding Long Run instead of a dentist, you could back him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,998 ✭✭✭Shane732

Plenty of horses in showing up on my horse tracker for tomorrow.

I have Ile De Re, Double Ross and Black Thunder in the tracker all running in the 12:55. Is the raced priced up right? I would have thought Black Thunder would have been shorter.

Then I have Silviniaco Conti in the 15:05. Personally I think I'll back Conti, I'm not a huge Long Run fan at all.

There could be a megatron on the cards!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,818 ✭✭✭ste2010

It could be a lot worse...the horse could be riding the dentist!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,818 ✭✭✭ste2010

    It's megatron central tomorrow
    Balder success
    Hidden cyclone
    Finians rainbow/captain chris/for non stop
    Long run/SC/weird al
    Oscar whisky

The 12:55 I will be looking at POOLE MASTER and BOCCIANNI at decent prices,

the 3:05 WIERD AL for the win.

Ile De Re will come on a great deal from his first run a few weeks back, travelled well for a fair bit of the race before emptying & making a couple of mistakes. He's an exciting horse though & I reckon tomorow could be the time to get on him. I'll take on Long Run everyday of the week & Nicholls thinks the world of Silvianaco Conti. The Giant Bolster is a very interesting runner, he's 11/2 & although he was 2nd in the Gold Cup I think it was a fairly poor race overall so I'm not sure its wise to base selection tomorow based on that run. I think at the price tomorow he might be a good bet as he could be the value bet. I just couldn't back Long Run at that price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭3ndahalfof6

Also 2 which might be worth looking at are,

    HAYDOCK 2:00 ZITENKA 25/1

    LINGFIELD 1:20 MONGOSSE 25/1.

    ya never know.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

Ile De Re would have been fit from his flat runs. If anything the trip caught him out last time

Seeing as the entire world thinks he's well handicapped over hurdles I was actually suspicious of his price.

If I owned him he'd be being laid out for something like the Coral Cup, ala Son Of Flicka last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭3ndahalfof6

Not forgetting, the Liverpool to win 3-1 on Sunday.

Ile De Re clearly needs plenty of cut and a trip. He was outpaced when the taps were turned on last time. Tomorrow will be his day, only problem is he's up against some up and coming horses. 9/4!?....the price of success I guess.

I've doubled him with Lie Forrit who would have come on for his return.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

For the record I've officially been sucked in & have had a small bet on Long Run at 7/4.

    Money on Betfair, 2.66

I'll never learn, said all week I'd leave the Betfair alone....

I don't think he's the same horse on good ground. A winter race is much more his conditions. Theres plenty of money to be won during the winter. He's on 123 aswell. He can afford to win a race before going for the jackpot - in fact he will need a win to guarantee a place in the Coral Cup, 134 was bottom weight this year

Starluck goes tomorrow. Won't be backing but if he keeps dropping in the weights can see a big handicap hurdle in him. Was thinking the County Hurdle, but not sure he quite gets home up the hill. That said that was graded company, if he continues dropping to a good mark can see a big run in him

Didn't starluck run today in the last at Ascot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭DelSutton

    My 3 big picks..

SILVINIACO CONTI -- 3.05 Haydock Park (Clearly fit after his run 3 weeks ago)

FOR NON STOP -- 2.10 at Ascot (Great Jumper, if the ground suits should run well)

TOUBAB -- 3.20 at Ascot ( Looked good till brought down last year, has a lot of potential, lets see if the summer has brought him on)

    My 2 long shots today...
    Ascot:
    12:35 Western King 25/1
    Haydock:
    3:40 Mark the book 20/1

    Captain Chris 2.10 Ascot
    Oscar Whiskey 2.45 Ascot
    Toner D'oudairies 3.10 Gowran Park
    Hollow Tree 12.20 Haydock
    Long run 3.05 Haydock

Edit: Hollow tree leaves my tron in tatters already, so I'm subbing in Master Overseer in the last at Haydock.

    That was a different horse.

I like Raya Star at 5/1, Hendersons are in no sort of form and 1/2 is way too short for me.

Getting sick of Bet365, the streaming is **** too.

Don't think this pace will suit Long Run, hope I'm right!!
