Was looking for a quote to fit a towbar (have the towbar) to a Nissan Quashqai , First one I got was 200 , main dealer. Asked local guy if hed do it for 100 and he said he couldnt say over the phone. Surely in this day and age 100 euro to fit a towbar is enough to pay.

    And electrics?

    And electrics?

And the lift as well I suppose ?

I mean, really, OP : you have enough to buy the Quashqai (thousands), enough to buy the towbar (hundreds). But think someone should effectively fit it as a 'favour' - for that's what €100 would be ?

Be interesting to know what your employer has a cost for your time, and see how that compares.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I would estimate fitting shouldn't take longer than three hours. 33 euro an hour would seem fair to me.
And by the way , I bought the towbar for 80 secondhand. It's called thinking outside the box......;)

A second hand tow bar as well, with the wiring in god know's what condition, and the supplied bolts being of no use as they were over torqued in the first place.

All thoretical, but what the person who you are looking to fit the bar might be thinking.

My Tow Bar supplier will not re-fit tow bars as they can't stand over them, specifically due to the re-using of the bolts. They'll give a lifetime gaurantee on a new one though.

I doubt you would get a legit business to fit a second hand tow bar. You have no idea of the life it led etc before you bought it. Could you not fit it yourself?

Fitting a towbar isn't a big job. Fitting and connecting the electrical wiring is a pain in the ass. The day's of connecting the trailer socket to the rear light's using scotch locks is gone. It can be very time consuming.

And after all that, your trailer light's might still not work. May have to be connected to the computer 'to tell' the ecu it now has a towbar fitted.

Thanks Orvee, I can see you know what you are talking about. Thanks for the diagram. The wiring is not really a diy job, but the diagram should help whoever I get to fit it. Looks like I may have to pay another fifty :D
