As I've wanted to play Lisheen Springs for a while now a few of us have decided to head up there next Sunday, 25th November.

I know its short notice but if anyone else wants to joins us you are more than welcome, just post it here. We will need to have an idea of numbers mid-week though.

To make it interesting (and depending on numbers) we are going to put €5 a head into a pot and winner takes all. GUI / Society handicaps to be used and if you don't have either you will be awarded one as per the society rules.

Please note: This is not a official society event, just a casual round a few of us are planning to play and anyone can come along.

No time yet but this can be decided when we have numbers.

Its probably down as South County.

As mentioned it's South County (there was a massive thread on here when it closed down during the year).

Green fees were 20/25 during the Summer, not sure what they are at the moment. I'd imagine 15-20

    Good morning lads,

We're booked in for Sunday at 12:06 and 12:15, I'm afraid that's the earliest I could get but Raymie in the pro shop said that should give us plenty of time to get around.

Assuming there will be 8 of us, I can have three guests at a rate of €15 and the remaining four will have to pay a rate of €20.

Maybe the three lads travelling furthest could get the reduced rate?

I'll be travelling up from Mayo so :)

All for that, or if that's going to cause hassle, we could all pay €20 and throw the 3 * €5 into the pot for a little prize?

We could give 3 prizes of a €5'er each to the prople that travelled the longest :D:o

Looking forward to it now, shall we close of the timesheet tomorrow evening so we can confirm numbers?
I'd be able to get 1 or 2 to fill in at relatively short notice worse case scenario

Would be nice to get the 8 or 2 x 3 balls at worst. My bro in law said he might play but have heard nothing back from him.

Fingers crossed, looking out the window here in work and it looks like a cracking evening today. Hopefully those storms predicted for Saturday night don't materialise.

Either was see you all on Sunday lads.

    Anyone play the course lately?

Can't get my damm GPS to sync with the computer to add the course to it:mad:

There's a lad on a recent thread who he played it Monday and course was very dry. I would expect it to be good in that regard.

I've always thought its more like a links than typical parkland. (Not a links obv, just has a bit of a feel of one)
Very exposed up there, no tree lined fairways, very good drainage....

Christ I'm looking forward to a game. Nearly a month without one at this stage.

I'll give you yardages, give or take 30yrds, depending on how well you're scoring :)

Hopefully we have enough time to get around the full 18 as the back 9 is far superior to the front 9.

Any one know if Lisheen was open today, some courses around Dublin didn't open due to the frost, and are the full greens in play or are they playing temps?

I will most likely. Although if pisses rain I won't. I'm not travelling up to get rained off. Only saving factor is I got the r11 the other day and i'm dying to use it :)

Not 100% sure but I think they only have one temp green, 17th, and they may not even have that in use with the cut backs.

I'll call them early tomorrow morning and give update.

How about a plan B guys, just on the off chance that Lisheen is closed and of course everyone is still up for a game I would suggest Millicent, the course is open when alot of other courses are closed and should be no problem to get a tee time, it's just outside Sallins and Clane and would be closer than Lisheen, also its a cracking course, just a thought

Have never been as wet playing golf, and the ride home was like one of those water based Disney rides, still enjoyed it though, FairPlay to the lads who travelled up.
