    Would you say the majority of people who voted have a good enough understanding of consitutional law to know what effect the changes can and will have?

    Obviously not but I'd say if you bother getting off your arse and going in, you'll look into it a bit more than just ticking any old box.

    An issue with the Irish system though, is that if only 10 people vote in the whole country, then those 10 people's decisions are affecting the whole Irish population. In some countries, if less than x% of the electorate show up, then the result of the referendum is deemed invalid.
