So following on for some banter from a fat man living in Australia ;)

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=81531963&postcount=1087

I'm looking at organising a smack down race series or The "Get in on like Donkey kong" Boards.ie smackdown trilogy series as I have christened it.

The series gives you a chance to take on your big mouthed boards.ie nemesis over 3 races in April. The races in question have yet to be finalised but at the moment there will be
    1) A 10k (possibly Great Ireland run or BHAA K-club, maybe BHAA as it's cheap and fast)
    2) a 5k have to check diary dates
    3) And the piece de resistance, a beer mile (I'll organise this but may have to go native as not too sure if I can swing a track).

All times will be accumulated to decide the winner but the beer mile will have special time bonuses (yet to be decided)

As well as smacking up your boards.ie bitch I'll also operate a highly sophisticated weighting/handicap system (eh mcmillian) to declare an overall winner. The prize for this crown is as yet undecided but seen as we have posters from well known sports shops (cough cough amphibian king) I'm sure we could swing a voucher/bike/car or at worst a slab of beer.

So any interest. I can envisage digger vs meno going head to head, shels vs woddle? pronator vs Abhainn? ecoli vs krusty to mention but a few. If you presently have no animosity towards a certain person I can make up some idle gossip about how they were bad mouthing you. Smackdown doesn't have to be a head to head so if there a few people you want to call out go ahead.

I'll start a table when we get a few interested parties. It won't be a google table though so I can see robinph calling me out in a while :D

Let's get it on like donkey kong!!!!

Beat him in our last 5k race, broke his 5k pb after that, broke his 10k pb in training last night..... I think it should be CL 'v' Meno ;):D

If you are bemoaning the fact that a Dub has organised a Dublin based smackdown I suggest you organise a Cork based one. Do you expect us to travel to Cork for a 3 race series?

That could work. Although can you imagine the tension on the start line. 20 boards posters hurling abuse at one another. The regulars and newbies to park run won't know what hit them. Could finish park run Ireland off.

Smack down must occur in designated races. GI will nearly definitely be shelved for k club.

You're right, it needs to be competitive. I heard he can't hold his beer either so the beer mile would be a walk over for you too. At least he'd have a chance against a bird.

No but there are lots of races in Cork too

5k in march or start of may and 2 10k's in april.

We can sort out a beer mile if there is interest ;)

Love this idea, but I think a beer mile would take me longer than marathon time to finish - if I even could finish... 2 beers (bottles) is about my limit! (yes I am a wuss) :D
Sure it'd be a something to watch though :rolleyes:

Great idea, would be good to get a bit of (un)friendly rivalry going. I'm adding a +1 to the BHAA K club 10k as well, great race and a very fast course.

Word is tRR in talks with a certain Dave Coyle about getting coaching on the art of negative splitting over the winter for this one, so unless you have a 10 min lead after 5k (or a few photographers around the course) you could have a tough time :D

I do like the sounds of this though and I think it is a great idea.

I also dont know if you need to do special timing bonuses for the mile as giving penalty lap rules puking could cost you up to 90 secs

Also perhaps who ever is leading going into that has the choice of beverages (Please match tRR and KC for this I could imagine the look on either face when someone shows up with Coors Lite/Hobgoblin for this one :P)

Beer mile wise, there is a cinder track out in Kilbarrack that might be ideal. I used it all the time doing intervals for DCM12 and it's generally very quiet barring the odd dog walker. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a bunch of supreme athletes going out there and puking their ring up all over it.

Probably have to work to stop the Tallaght lads drinking flagons of Tesco cider in the corner of the field before hand though.

You may be confusing me with digger2d2 :) my days of harassing the dsd junior girls team are well and truly over although I can never remember any of them complaining ;)

Just back from some beer mile training. Training going well, may heavily handicap the scoring system on the side of the beer mile. I'm feeling confident :) try and stay out of McDonald's tomorrow.

I think we should encourage. Gives us a chance to bask in his glory and allow all the doubters to witness his greatness in person and let all the doubters time for themselves.

NR any chance you would do some personal pacing for me? been running now what 10 weeks? Surely by now a sub 16 would be a cake walk after building up your base with the marathon

Ecoli, you have a big bulleye painted on your back for this one! 5k aint a problem in the slightest for me, you're rubbish at that! I'll have to bump up the miles properly for the 10k, however my current pb is shockingly bad, and knocking out a respectable pb in that would be made all the sweeter knowing you ate my dust for it!

You definitely have the edge on me for the beermile, both on your beermile pb and level of alcoholism (even your commitment to training for that, like running 8miles home after a night in coppers!), I might have to do a double or quits after that, I've got the edge on the steeple and will be training hard for it next year, so either of theses would suit me:

The 4-Lap Beer Steeplechase (4 beers, 4 quarters, 16 barriers, 4 water pits)
    Best known effort: 8:52.0

The 3000m Vodka Steeplechase (7 shots, standard 3k steeplechase)
    Best known effort: 12:04.0

Haha my levels of alcoholism? Not my fault ye Wicklow Folk dont have the stamina to run and drink at same time:D

    Challenge accepted:D

the SC series of beer challenges are ones that have eluded me so would be nice to have a shot at them. Also between Tunguska, Cwgatling, tRR and myself could even have a a team comp vs Sli Cualann (yourself, KC, Pronator and a few others)

5K and 10K no goes for me, but the beer mile is something I very much have my eye on. After my 9:20 debut I am hungry for more. The next one is in April I believe. After the main event of my season, the State Champs, at the start of March, everything will be winding down, so myself, and a mate out here (who debuted in 8:30 the last time) have decided to really train for it properly in the 3 weeks before the race. Have my sights set on sub 8. :) Would love a boards challenge but proximity may be a problem sadly!

Yeh EPO and alcohol are the only drugs that we need for this one, we can leave the heroin and ecstasy for another day!

I always thought that to become a better runner you needed to do long slow distance runs, quality speed work and avoid running predominately on hard surfaces. So who needs drugs as long as you use LSD, speed and grass as part of your running routine.

I'm arranging an xmas run around the city with the club, dressed as Santas, 5 pubs and about a 2 mile run (with a few hills) between each pub. Think I have to do a pint in each pub, but I highly doubt anyone else will be doing that and will stick to the shorts.

The tricky bit is going to be getting back home afterwards wearing running gear and a partly ripped Santa suit through the city centre whilst drunk. Time will be measured in hours anyway.

2 miles between each pub. It will get messy and I predict me getting chasers for each pint as well. One of the later pubs is a cider barge on the river though, so that will count as the sugary energy drink ready for the last run up a steep hill to finish off.
