Power rack with 6 ft bar

    Hi Guys.

I started weight training in my gym a few months ago and fell in love with barbell training.

I decided to invest in a power rack and an olympic barbell for home use as I see my self doing this kind of training for many years to come. Unfortunately the space I have in the free room at home is limited. I measured everything and a 7ft bar will just about fit but it will be very tight.

I am looking at this barbell set instead which is 6ft and will leave me with a bit more wiggle room.

    And this rack

Now the cf475 seems to be 45.6 inches wide. I think the 6 ft bar will fit safely inside the rack but I am not 100 % sure.

Anyone of you guys have to use a 6ft bar inside your power racks? Did you run into any problems ? or is there something I am missing like the rack i linked will only support a 7ft bar safely?

Any help or info you could give me would be greatly appreciated and thanks for reading.

    Many thanks

Best thing to do would probably be to ring that company up and ask them. I have the model just behind that one and I don't think it'd take anything smaller

I have that cage, you'll need at least 46 inches between the collars on your bar.

In general the difference between 5/6/7 ft bar is that the length of the plate holders on each end decreases, reducing the amount of plates that can be loaded. The distance between the handgrips is the same for each bar. I am not sure what you mean by using a bar inside the rack? If you are close by pop over to irishlifting and have a look, they used to have a good selection in stock.

Check the distance between the collars on the bar.
I ordered an olympic set from powerhouse fitness and the bar is shorter than the one in my gym. Leaves it tight for re racking a bar.

Did anyone manage to find a 6ft bar with the same inside width as a 7ft bar? I called irish lifting and powerhouse fitness and their 6ft has a shorter distance.
