Connect a usb mp3 player to mixing desk?

I hope I'm posting this in the question in the right place (apologies if not) I have a query which i'd like cleared up.
Up till now we had a CD player wired directly into our now replaced mixer, used for playing our disc during intervals etc, but now we've replaced it with another desk.my question is this...
Can I store the required music on my usb mp3 player/dongle and transfer it directly inot a channel on the desk using something like>

converting the smaller jack to a larger 3/4 inch jack using something like >

We dont really do much DJ or playing of music off cd so this seems a simple ish way to do it. Can anyone confirm if this will work or if there is a simpler way to do it.

Hi. That mixer has no mention of a usb, but if you buy a mini jack to rca cable you can connect the mp3 player into the Tape In on the top right of the desk, since you don't want to use a channel. So it's

Mini-jack into headphone on the mp3 player/ipod then rca into the desk.

Beside the lights there's a gain knob for Tape Level.

Ah. that would be a more logical way of doing it alright!!! even better as it wont take up a channel on the desk!! much appreciated! I shall try it out. I actually think i have a mini jack to rca lead....somewhere...you know, one of them boxes... or cases...or bags.....somewhere.......
