I've have expected if you are paying a doctor for a service they should have the necessary equipement???
Have you tried looking at a different doctor?

There are a few medical supplies around Dublin city centre; Clarendan Medical and another in Aungier St, I think they are called Fannin Heath Care.

This sounds strange, no doctor would ask a patient with harmochromatosis to supply their own bags or any other equipment for that matter. Also you should be tied in with a central liver unit who are used to treating this condition and would have all the bags and disposal services..

Are you just doing this yourself for some reason, your story makes no sense, have you decided bloodletting is a good idea?

Excuse me,but do you think this is some class of prank.Twenty years ago i was diagnosed with this condition and my Son thirteen years ago.My GP takes off the blood and all the necessary tests are done accordingly but we must supply our own bloodpacks and what are you on about going to a liver unit?.

I don't think anybody thinks that this is a prank. I believe that people are just incredulous that you would have to provide your doctor with blood packs in order for him to draw your blood.

If you are paying your doctor, have a medical card or health insurance. Either way your doctor should be providing what ever medical equipment is required for your treatment and the treatment ofall their patients.

The only time I could understand having to supply our own medical equipment would be possibly in a third world country where supplies are in short supply. But seeing as how you have posted your question on an Irish forum, I am assuming you are inIreland, so you should never have to supply equipment to our medical professionals.

What's next? Bringing a stanley knife and a needle and thread along when an operation is required?

Haemochromatosis is a common condition. Usually people with it are under the supervision of a specialist hematologist or a hepatologist working out of dedicated units in hospitals (liver units). Genetic counseling, testing, arranging venisection when required, monitoring iron levels.... and all that....

I don't think its a prank, however having to source and supply your own bags is unbelievable (and that a doctor who wants you to supply your own bags wouldn't tell you where to get them). Why can't the doctor order them for you and you pay for them. Surely the local pharmacy can do that on prescription.

It is however common to want to draw your own blood for a few other less kosher reasons such as some alternative healing things and the old lance armstrong reasons. However being more likely the heamochromatosis I would ask yourself if you doctor is communicating with you properly and giving you all the necessary information, so you don't have to go on the internet to get answers.

After that try Fannins medical supplies http://www.fannin.ie/aboutus.aspx...but
