Worm dose prices

It's that time of year again, the kids are off school, so there's lots of help for dosing. I heard this time last year it is the peak week for sales;)

I know some people have the cattle in already, but for anyone buying worm/fluke dose are there any bargains out there. Can you post up what you've bought and roughly what area of the country you bought it? I hear Zanil is 80e?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

got the 4L levafas diamond from magenta direct, think it was 60 something

Fane Valley (in N.I.) are very competitive for all doses, certainly compared with Arrabawn (Athenry) prices. Think you may get delivery free if ordering over a certain value, though not entirely sure.

Good dose but be careful not to give them too much... i dosed cows first, then heifers but reduced down the dosage on the gun for heifer weanlings but obviously gave them too much, they were sick a dogs, all scour and didnt eat for nearly 2 days after it.

Spoke to another lad that sells it and he confirmed its a fairly potent oral drench alright as a fella had been into him days earlier after killing his ram with an overdose:mad:

i was reading the doseage and if i say the average weight of the cows is 600kgs give them 150ml of leavafas. Is that the amount that you gave or did you give less as 150ml is alot to give. Also weanlings average weight 300kgs what did you give??

i gave the cows a full of the 150ml gun and no problems

300-350 kg heifer weanlings should have got 75ml but they got more like 90 to 100ml and it proper sickened them ... my own fault:mad:

aw right you over did it a bit so. so if you had have given 75ml they would have being fine. how did you find the dose are the cattle picking up and thriving since getting it. would you recommend it??

Im okay for dosing stuff at the min but i alternate from white drench, trodax and ivomec classic pour on and back to ivomec super injection.

Where id usually get Ivomec super im told(probably on here) that Merial's licensing on active ingredients have now run out so Animec have identical active ingredients only cheaper:

    Ivermectin 10 mg
    Clorsulon 100 mg

    Animec Super E125 divided by 550ml is 0.227 per ml x 12ml (600kg cow) =E2.72 per cow
    Ivomec Super E200 divided by 500ml is 0.40 per ml x 12ml (600kg cow) =E4.80 per cow

Plus Chanelle are a good loughrea company!!:) Merial are UK

I used it last January and it worked fine, this summer i got Tramazole 10% 5ltrs as agri direct were giving away 1ltr of Growvite worth E35 with each 5ltr @E75.

I also gave calves cheap ivermectin injection in between, must have dosed my calves 4 times this year.. horrible wet year

ya i dont remembver the exact dosage but i remember thinking that it was alot to give them, i know Ihad to put my weanling on hay for a few days after it as they were absolutely blackening each other with ****e..i took it as a good sign
though..that was back when they were housed, i wonder should they be dosed again now with some other product?

It must be good stuff so. I was told to do them with that and then 6weeks later to do them again with trodax i assume just do the cows with that. I'll probably do the weanlings with ivormac after that

I bought 4 litres of Levafas off my vet this morning. Twas 70e but if you pay on the day rather than put in on account then you get 10% off, so worked out at 63e. Seems great value. He did warn me to be exact as possible with dosage rate. Said tis one dose that you need to be as correct as possible with as it can set the cattle backwards for a couple of days if you don't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 Tommyj1

Bought 2 x 4 ltrs of levafas diamond for €60 each. Seemed good value. Article in the journal this weak about a sheep farmer in the north that used it. Said it done a mighty job on the lambs. Dosed all the yearlings with it today. Probably plenty of dung in the morning.

I dosed all my calves with paramectin this year, 3 times so far

I intend on giving them rispoval 3 before housing which will be next week

Rispoval 3 is working out at 28 euro to dose 5 calves

Come march 2013 upon turnout they will get levastas diamond and qualimec and in some cases blackleg

Anybody buy rispoval 3 recently and at what cost????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 714 ✭✭✭feelgoodinc27

A bit OT but would dosing with levafas diamond be equivalent to Zanil? Can't get zanil anywhere but there seems to be plenty levafas about.

+1. Just after chatting to my vet this evening about levafas. Said it's a great dose, but you would want to judge weight of animal to within 1cwt (50kg) to make sure you are giving the correct dosage.

presume Kilomec is just some form of ivermectin. 40l is dear for what it is, but its like roundup, you get ridden for buying small quantities.

Pharma supplies are probably the single farm supply where scale give serious savings. That's not much fun for a hard pressed farmer to hear unfortunately

closmectin is a completely different product containing both ivermectin and closantel. Closantel is a very dear active ingredient.

    120 a ltr isnt a bad price

I found this online, not sure if its independent or not but its good guide for flukes..see endofluke is near top of the list cos it kills fluke 2 weeks onwards (lower withdrawls too), so I will give to mine two weeks after housing. Likely would have to wait 10 weeks post housing for ivo super and zanil 10 weeks too. I used to use Trodax all the time, but will be changing.
Only problem is I'll have to buy the drencher, but might be worth it.
