Press. I hate ketchup that's been kept in the fridge.

    Fecking ice-cold ketchup - it's not gazpacho!

If you buy something out of a fridge in the shop then it goes in the fridge at home.

If you buy something out of a freezer in the shop then it goes in the freezer at home.

If you buy something off a shelf in the shop then it goes in the cupboard at home.

    So they say.

On the back of a bottle of Heinz ketchup it clearly states that it should be stored in the fridge once open.

    I rest my case.

    Food safety fail!

Plenty of products are sold off a shelf in the shop, but need to be kept in the fridge once opened

One thing that irrationally annoys me is keeping things that don't need to be in the fridge in the fridge, such as ketchup.

And don't get me started on where my housemate keeps her bread!!

Eggs are porous and absorb odors and bacteria when in the fridge according to Mammy...

Although you're still alive so I guess that shows her. :)

General rule with Ketchup and Mustard sauces etc.

    In the press when unopened.

Fridge once the seal has been broken.

    It also depends what brand.

If it is a cheap supermarket brand like LIDL or Tesco Value more than likely the chemicals that are contained in it will preserve it so it wont make any difference where you put it whether the seal has been broken or not.

    might be a protestant thing.

they put toasters in the press too.

Eggs go in the fridge because they need to be kept at a stable temperature.

If out in the kitchen, they go warm>cold>warm too many times, and they don't like that.

Yes eggs should be stored in the fridge, but possibly taken out in advance depending on their use.

If it's just bread you're lucky. I'm in a place with Chinese students - EVERYTHING goes in the fridge including unopened tinned cans and dry pasta! FFS

The fridge obviously like mustard, BBQ, mayo etc. Putting sauces in the press is rank.

The press, a word which gets me plenty of weird looks when I use it in that context outside of Ireland.

Who wants to take a trip back to 1987?

Three tomatoes are walking down the street pappa tomato, mamma tomato, and a little baby tomato.

    Baby tomato starts lagging behind.

Poppa tomato gets angry, goes over to the baby tomato, squashes him... and says: "Catch up".
