Object of the game:

Those who answered 'apples' or 'oranges' to question 2 got changed to a generic 'fruit' and as such 'eye of newt' became 'newt' and frogs legs became 'frogs'. yeah, I know Shakespeare said 'eye of newt' but I wasn't going to be that picky

Surprised with this one. I guessed that Dracula would be top as it's more 'Halloweenie' than The Shining and was written by an Irishman.

I'm very sure that if I asked this question 20-30 years ago that 'orange' wouldn't have appeared in this list and that people would have split their votes between black and red. Does 'orange' beating 'black' mean that Halloween is now an American holiday?

If the zombie apocalypse don't occur and instead the world is invaded by vampires then I want to team up with the people who said 'sunlight' as besides the stake it's the only sure fire way to really kill one. The garlic and the crucifix will just keep them away and the holy water burns them as though it was acid but again, unlikely to actually kill them.
