    Here we go again……….. :)

    Object of the game:
The point of the game is pretty simple. In a PM to me, answer each of the 10 questions below. There are no wrong answers.
The point is to give the most popular, correct answer that you think the majority of the people will give.
So give each question some thought and try to figure out what you think the others will answer and not just the first answer that comes into your head.

    Formatting:

To make my life easier, make your post look exactly like this:

    1. answer
    2. answer
    3. answer
    4. answer
    ...

    Questions:

    1. Name a popular child's costume.
    2. Name something besides sweets that you get when trick-or-treating.
    3. Name a popular Halloween party game.
    4. Besides a jack o'lantern, name a popular decoration for Halloween.
    5. Name an actor/actress associated with Halloween.
    6. Other than 'Halloween' and its sequels, name a popular horror film.
    7. Name a horror novel (doesn't have to be associated with Halloween)
    8. Name a colour associated with Halloween
    9. Name something that a witch might put in her potion.
    10. Besides a stake through the heart, how might you kill a vampire?

Send me a PM with your answers.

You can use this thread to ask any questions you have.

Do 6 and 7 have to be a novel and movie set around Halloween or just associated with it?

And the winner is.....well, it's a tie actually, between Quality and Woodchuck !
Interestingly, both were the only entrants who didn't give a unique answer, i.e. an answer that no one else gave.

    Quality 509 points

    1. Witch
    2. Apple (normalised to 'fruit')
    3. bob for an apple
    4. Cobwebs
    5. Jamie Lee Curtis
    6. Nightmare on Elm Street
    7. The Shining
    8. Orange
    9. Newt
    10. Sunlight

    woodchuck 509

    1. Ghost
    2. Fruit
    3. Bobbing for apples
    4. Spiderwebs
    5. Jamie Lee Curtis
    6. Friday the 13th
    7. Bram Stoker's Dracula
    8. Orange
    9. Eye of newt (normalised to newt)
    10. Sunlight

    And the rest......

    2 Blisterman 445,45
    3 Hope O_o 436,36

    4 Suas11 436,36
    5 jebforever 418,18
    6 Inquitus 400,00

    7 Orion 318,18
    8 egan2020 318,18
    9 aido76 309,09
    10 orchidsrpretty 272,73

Those who answered 'apples' or 'oranges' to question 2 got changed to a generic 'fruit' and as such 'eye of newt' became 'newt' and frogs legs became 'frogs'. yeah, I know Shakespeare said 'eye of newt' but I wasn't going to be that picky :)

Here are the submissions. Answers in bold are the top answers.

    1. Ghost 6
    1. Pumpkin 1
    1. Witch 4

    2. fruit 6
    2. Money 2
    2. Nuts 3

    3. Bobbing for apples 10
    3. Snap apple 1

Ahh, snap apple. I loved that game. Doesn't seem to be all that popular with this crowd though :)

    4. cobwebs 4
    4. Skeletons 4

    4. Spiders 1
    4. witch 1
    4. Candles 1

    5. boris Karloff 1
    5. Christopher Lee 1
    5. Jack Nicholson 1
    5. Jamie Lee Curtis 4
    5. johnny depp 2
    5. Sigourney Weaver 1
    5. Tom Atkins 1

    6. Alien 1
    6. Blair Witch Project 1
    6. dracula 1
    6. Exorcist 1
    6. friday the 13th 3
    6. Nightmare on Elm Street 2
    6. Scream 1
    6. The Shining 1

    7. Dracula 3
    7. Frankenstein 1
    7. Pet cemetery 1
    7. The Shining 6

Surprised with this one. I guessed that Dracula would be top as it's more 'Halloweenie' than The Shining and was written by an Irishman.

    8. Black 5
    8. orange 6

I'm very sure that if I asked this question 20-30 years ago that 'orange' wouldn't have appeared in this list and that people would have split their votes between black and red. Does 'orange' beating 'black' mean that Halloween is now an American holiday?

    9. (Eye of) newt 6
    9. Frog (legs) 3
    9. Poison 1
    9. spiders 1

"Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
    Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
    Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,--
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

    10. Crucifix 1
    10. Garlic 1
    10. holy water 1
    10. sunlight 8

If the zombie apocalypse don't occur and instead the world is invaded by vampires then I want to team up with the people who said 'sunlight' as besides the stake it's the only sure fire way to really kill one. The garlic and the crucifix will just keep them away and the holy water burns them as though it was acid but again, unlikely to actually kill them.

So well done to the 11 who entered! I'll put another one together this weekend. Follow me @ptegan if you don't visit this forum very often but want to be kept up to date as to when I post these puzzles.
