Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I've been thinking of going to physiotherapy but I've never and been and unsure if it's the correct route to be going down.

Basically last March I fell off while jumping, I was grand and got back up but I think I landed on my back oddly. I've been riding my whole life so have had plenty of falls but for some reason the second I got up my the ball part (like back dimple area) was really hot but I just ignored it. Since then about once or twice a month it flares up and I feel like I have a knot in my bone?

Sometimes it gets really bad and I feel like I need to crack my pelvis or stretch it but no matter what I do I can't get it? It feels like my pelvis is numb sometimes! If this is a physio case, how can they help me if I go and my pelvis doesn't happen to be flaring up at that day? Also how much do physio appointments cost roughly?

Physio is generally about 40-50 a session. Varies slightly.

Sounds possibly like a disc problem but can't advise too much here, just going by the problems I've had.

Physio will work more with muscle problems, but a good one will advise you on the best course of action.

Your GP may actually be your best best, as if be thinks its a disc problem or something, he may refer you for a scan (MRI or X-ray).

There are some good chiropractors out there too but a lot of people advise against them. I personally had good and bad experiences with them. Use a good one now in mullingar but was seeing one who gradually made me worse!

Hope you find out soon and get it sorted, back problems are not nice!

Go to a doctor. Any numbness should be checked out! A good physiotherapist will want a MRI scan result before treating you if your symptoms are disc-like.

I'd advise against a chiropractor. (having been told to avoid them by a doctor specializing in sports injuries).

Any physio/Therapist worth their salt will be able to assess soft tissue & boney structures in the area by description of your symptoms/accident, visually & by palpating the structures. They'll form a working hypothesis & try to back this up by manually stressing the area for change in symptoms & use any findings to form a treatment plan!

If you're definitely experiencing numbness as advised by other posters go see your GP & get a referral for an MRI. They'll be able to advise you on the best course of action once it's done!!
