I eat this two or three evenings a week as a supper. Would regard it as fairly healthy, am I right? Any other alternative evening meals ? ( not a dinner)

I would say keep the beans just make sure you get the ones with No Added Sugar. They are nice and handy, tasty and healthy (once there is not a tonne of extra sugar added). ~62 kcal per 100G and they keep you full for a long time.

Oh for fcuks sake...are you a troll or an idiot?

If you don't want to have a dinner then have..

    A salad
    A bowl of soup
    A sandwich

google the above terms if you are not sure

Completely uncalled for. Attack the post, not the poster, and if you suspect trolls report them.

    Banned.

I'd concider the OPs supper to be healthier than a sandwich.

    As for the op
There's nothing too wrong with it, it's just lacking in veg and watch out for the ingredients in baked beans, I don't know the ingredients so I won't comment.
Maybe switch the beans for a veg

What? Eggs, very very good. Rashers, not bad. Beans, not bad. And this meal would definitely be better than a sandwich.

Can I chime in here to ask what's wrong with beans?

The reason I ask is that, similar to the OP, I would eat the above (bacon may be sub'd for sausages on occasion + wholemeal toast) several times during the week when I come in from training. Clearly I'm not very aware of the intricate nutritional benefits/issues of most things but in my head, protein + fibre = good.

    Nutrient Per 100g
    Energy - KJ 337kJ
    (Calories) 79kcal
    Protein 4.7g
    Carbohydrate 12.9g

    Fat 0.2g
    (Of which saturates) (Trace)
    Fibre 3.7g
    Sodium 0.3g
    Salt Equivalent 0.7g

Theres not much wrong with them in fairness, I thought the sauce would have a lot more sugar

The Batchelors No Added Sugar is better, just contains natural sugars from the tomatoes... http://www.batchelors.ie/beans/sugar-free-beans.asp

I found beans great for weight loss, get a lean protein source (fish, chicken etc), load of beans, lots of veg and it will fill you for a long time (~500-600kcal). Then use the rest of the can of beans with Eggs and maybe a bit of Bacon in the evening as supper. Worked a treat for me and I was never hungry. (along with decent breakfast and a healthy snack).

genuine question, would the amount of salt in the bacon (does bacon = rashers?) not be a bit high to be eating 3 times a week?

I often have this as well.

Pretty solid meal i think, keeps me full for hours and is pretty tasty.

Thanks for replies, I wasn't taking the mick or 'trolling'.

I just wanted to see if

    1) this was a healthy meal

    2) what the best alternatives as a light evening meal would be.

Don't think sandwiches are particularly healthy and salads don't fill me up enough.

Could have porridge again in the evening but a bit dull to be having porridge for breakfast and supper as well.

    Suggestions?

Think I will cook this up for myself tonight
Gonna use the bacon bits that I usually buy in Lidl. Thanks OP for the idea :)
