If somebody has hacked your account twice, then why are you asking us what to do? Not meaning offence, but it seems that you should know already, if you've got it back before.

He might have a key logger on your system or something?

I asked the question before I rang EA just after I found out it happened

@ktulu how do I check for keylogging ?

make sure you changed the email for the password reminder...if I was sure I'd change it once more..wipe your system and reinstall your OS...
what anti virus are you running?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

in your email have check the settings and look for forwarding.

i had an issue before where everytime i got an email it was forwarded to another and there is no warning or notifications when it happens so its pretty invisable

Ah jaysus, that's a bit severe now!

I'd suggest going to the Virus and Malware forum and let the experts take a look. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055274237
It might seem long winded, but it'll make sure there's nothing left on your end. :)

I made up a new email address ,
I changed it over the phone with EA i have a new totally different super complicated password
and did the reset from a different computer that hadn't been powered up in months ,
I left my desktop powered off all this time

an the guy still got back into my account !!!!!!! And EA support are now closed until tomorrow this is nuts , don't know what to do :-(

Separate the files you absolutely do not want to lose/re-download. Make a not of the size.

Create a second Partition with enough size to fit the above and move the files over.. Run a scan on it with Malwarebytes and your Anti -Virus (MSE/Avast Free or Kaspersky Paid)

If it returns a positive, delete that folder if you cannot find the problem file, and run again until the scans run clean.

Format and reinstall to C:/ drive.

Once re-installed check your process's regularly for any new unknown ones.

IMO this is the quickest way to en sure you pc is clean. My bet is a key logger thats hidden or buried.

No doubt you will eventually find the problem if you ask some of the more experienced users here or the likes of TechSupportGuys but it will take time.

Yeah this is his name http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/v1ctys/

What a ****er, I really dont know enough about this to know how he is doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

Is he using my account ?

It's not my pc I don't know how he's doing it , I changed my password and email over the phone and on a totally different PC that's never used , all the time my desktop was powered off , and he still got in ???

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 3,093 Mod ✭✭✭✭ktulu123

He wasn't playing when i was on but I can still see the account etc. Maybe ask them to give you a new account or else it's on their end that he has access to something.

There's only one known virus that requires a full format, called Virut. The rest of them can be removed using specialised tools.

Fian...see my last post. This will rule out any problems you might have on your system. If nothing is found, then the problem is on EA's end - but good luck telling them that. :D

It can't be a virus at this stage , I switched off my PC , and changed all my passwords and email address on a different unused PC , and left my desktop turned off just to see , and he still got back in very quickly

EA are setting me up another account and said they would transfer over all my games and give me a few free ones only downside is I lose all my stats :-(
So much for making colonel 100 :-( was ****ing close too

Only upside is I will be the most dangerous rank 1 in the game :-P

Have you been inviting people to be your friend in game over the past few days? And are your password change words (if there are any) the same or different?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

i did invite you and a load others yesterday when i got back into my account briefly but the hacker got back in again after that :(

i have a new profile set up now and i will be inviteing people again this evening

my password were radically different and stupidly overcomplicated each time

Remind me what you studied again? :D

Fian, remember that thing you were telling me about...you downloaded some file from a torrent, what was it...bf3_aimbot.exe? That's the source of your problem right there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭jumbobreakfast

I saw a few notificiations in battlelog that said a few of my friends were now friends with v1ctys. I thought it strange as I didnt recognise the name but didnt get a chance to ask them about it. Is that spannermonkey's ingame name or the name or the guy who is compromising his account?

Battlelog went down for about 20 minutes yesterday evening, I wonder is there any connection? If you are using different email addresses and PCs then it looks like they compromised battlelog or perhaps your router as ktulu suggested? Please try and get an answer out of EA as you need to know if it is on their end or yours for your own peace of mind

My user name on battlefield is Fianoglach_Airm , aka Dave in teamspeak
The other user name is the guy that stole my account , hmmm is it possible he came through my router ???? Thought they had built in fire walls

where else do you use this account? xbox? ps3?
All of your ea accounts are linked etc.
Eg..I play Fifa 13 on xbox 360...this is linked to my origin account on my pc so to BF3 etc..

If he's getting in that fast he must have his email/mobile set up for the password reminder. There's no other way he can get it that fast with PC switched off and you not logging onto your account.
You didn't piss Zeke or Mr Fitt off in EA did you? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

huh that vic whatever guy added me too assumed it was a boardsie that got names from the bf3 name thread.

time to defriend i guess, although there are a few things that could be done. There is a way if he clicks a link that it would give us his IP address. Not perfect but a start.

I had to do it before to prove that a person had created a facebook page (long story) but by getting their IP address i was able to show them the rough location and who their ISP was.

I can't remember the name of the site though that created the option but i'll look when i get home.

The only issue is there would have to be a reason that they would want to click on the link. I know i wouldn't click a link someone randomly sends me and seeing they seem to be fairly good with computers they might not bother clicking through

Spanner, by any chance did you purchase your game through one of those russian sites?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

No bought the game from a shop in town
I'd never click on a link I didn't know and even when they come from someone I know I'd be wary , I'm very careful with that kind of thing

I haven't checked the forwarding details as I don't have access to my account any more

, it was me that added ye not him , as soon as he got into my account he erased my friends list , for the brief period I got in I invited ye again before he took it back , those that are now friends with him will u check and see if he is using the account , he shouldn't be able to as EA banned the account , I'm just wondering .

And ya I googled the user name and numerous Russian hack websites came up , so he's not new to this

And you said EA can't transfer your stats? Why the fook can't they? Are they storing people's stats in a filing cabinet?

Don't know he said the stats are assigned to the profile and they can't remove or alter them :-(

Well you're after giving them ~€90 for the game including Premium. They're bound to have the ability to manually input statistics for any player they like, so you should request that they do exactly that. It's not like it'd take hours to do.

The Flaw is on their End! Linking accounts w/ a new popular game is the Flaw they are using to jack the accounts. Call them here: EA Support Direct #: 650-628-1001 Try and get moved up to Escalated support and read the following:

Well I did get to the bottom if this - after having 4+ Techs tell me to Reformat my hard drive, It's my email being hacked, etc... EA Support is helping me with a Hacker of my account - I had to call 6x to convince them it was on their end (prob about 4hrs on the phone w/ escalated support)

There is a security Flaw with another new popular game they are linking accounts with (mostly Russians) and hacking the Origin accounts (mainly BF3 accounts). You will probably get an email regarding this game and a password change when your Origin pass changes (you will get an email about his too). Keep an eye on your account and if Hacked, insist it is on their end - Hopefully they will fix it but they just discovered this flaw according to them. They are giving me MoH Warfigher for my trouble - meh...

Thanks for taking the time to register, that does make sense. Did they ever link your profile back to your old stats? We can see two profiles for spanner on battlelog (new profile and old profile with all his unlocks but the hackers name is on it) and one other profile for the guy who hacked him with different stats again.

I say hacker, it's probably just a customer of the hacker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

sorry i dont get what you are saying thCGaToR ?:o
if someone else does can they please try explain:o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

from what i can tell from that post the hackers are using a roundabout way to get your account.

There was a flaw in another Origin game that linked uses Origin and thats what they are targeting. Like getting into the bank when the main doors are locked but the side door has a bit of sticky tape holding it closed

Have you another Origin game installed or linked to your account?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭jumbobreakfast

so your PC and email address was not compromised, it was something on EA's end. I'm sure they'll have to allow you to get access to your old stats again once they fix it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

Ya I'm seeing an awful lot of threads on battlelog forums about hacked accounts it wouldn't surprise me , they would want to sort it soon though, or I will have 1 profile for BF3 and 1 for MOH

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Sanjuro

So today I received an email from Origin saying my account email has changed. I did not try to change my email address. So now, I cannot log into Origin, Battlelog and there is no evidence of my address to any account with either. I'm trying to contact Origin support, but they need you to log in, and when I try, my email address is not linked to any account. Anybody have any idea what I can do?

*EDIT: Sorry, just saw the other thread about account hacking. I'll try those steps and hopefully get my account back. Christ.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Sanjuro

Hey SpannerMonkey. Looks like I've suffered the same thing. Pain in the hole. Did you ring EA from Ireland or over Skype or what did you do? Looks like I'm going to have to do the same.
