Eating whilst drinking alcohol

I've looked in a few places on the web to the answer to this one but no joy as yet.

Everywhere I read that (put simplicticly) you shouldn't eat whilst drinking alcohol as your body will deal with the alcohol first and the food gets stored, potentially as fat, leading to excess stomach weight.

So my question is, on a night out where you're going for a meal and drinking afterwards, and say you only drink water during the meal, how long before you can drink alcohol, ie how long approx. before your body has dealt with / broken down the food and is ready to go to work on the alcohol?

I know I shouldn't be drinking at all if I want to gain muscle but realistically the drinking will happen occasionally.

If it's only occasionally and your eating clean and training hard go out and enjoy your night out without stressing it.

    Back to your question,
The problem alcohol on board is we tend to overeat and make choices we don't normally make. Plus there's the next days craving for salt, sugar and all the junk. Due to the raised insulin levels there is a high potential to store what we eat as fat.

Different foods beak down depending on the the carb, fat and protein content. Efficiency of your digestive system will also play a part.

Unless your training for a major event enjoy a steak and pints when ya can,

    Cheers
