Both World title matches are, I think.

AFAIK only the two Main Event matches are. (i.e. The World championships)

Seems like a bit of a sham to call it HIAC if all matches arent in the cell!

Also Elimination Chamber, TLC, Extreme Rules, it's always been the way that the top 2 or 3 matches have been themed matches and the rest normal.

To be fair if they have a HIAC for every match the novelty would wear very thin by the main event and it won't any longer seem as special.

The novelty's already been worn pretty thin in fairness!

Wait, so there's a PPV for a match that just used to be on RAW ?, What ISNT there a PPV for these days ?, I just came back to wrasslin' this year after stopping round' 04 or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

They don't have an iron man match pay per view. They don't have a triple threat ppv either.

Can't remember too many cell matches on RAW.

The cell came down during the Austin/Kane rematch, but it wasn't booked as a HIAC.

    Any other examples?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

There was a tag team hell in a cell match between Steve Austin/The Undertaker and Mick Foley/Kane, if my memory serves me correctly. But then again, maybe I'm just thinking of that Steve Austin and Kane rematch you mentioned, from Raw after the PPV..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

They did Kane vs Mankind on Raw in a Hell in a Cell match, it ended in a DQ (yeah seriously)when Stone Cold interfered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Yeah the referees used to just ring the bell sometimes if there was a run in, kinda weird.

That would be pretty boring. An iron man PPV would just be 3 matches, assuming they go for the hour long matches. :) Though triple threat iron man match could be interesting. Has it been done?

Almost like actually enforcing a DQ for tag partner entering the ring and interfering.

Iron man matches seem like more of a "Over the Limit" ppv match, though having more than one would be daft cause they are so time consuming.

The first ROH Title match was a four way iron man match. Was good at the time but probably hasn't aged well.

I'm pretty sure it hasn't ever been done in the WWF anyway. I don't see it happening.

Yes I know that. Although I have never seen one of them, I was estranged from wrestling.

    Source

John Cena announced that he has been medically cleared to wrestle. The
feeling is that WWE officials will still take it easy with him over the next
month or so. There are no plans to put him in the Hell In a Cell main event but
he is expected to have a role. There has been talk of having Cena face the
winner of Ryback vs. Punk after Hell In a Cell is over.

Can someone clarify is the WWE Championship the only HITC match this year @ HITC PPV?

There has been very little mention of the cell or hype around it to improve the importance of the ppv and Main Events.

That's what I'm getting from the WWE site too, which is strange they normally have 2 HITC matches every year at HITC.

Given the week that's in it people watching the PPV should check out WWE Main Event.

WWE keeps talking down links to it. But here it is on Dailymotion:

The show build up Ryback and Del Rio pretty effectively.

Heyman seems to be setting up a Dolph (as a face) vs Punk programme here.

Just to give everyone advance warning, the clocks go back this weekend. I think that means that this PPV will be on at midnight our time (as it shall become Sunday morning). So be careful if you're DVRing this....

    Also, it's a Sky Sports PPV! :D

I suspect a big buyrate for this one, Ryback vs Punk would have done it's job in that sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I am looking forward to watching a world title match on the television for a change, a luxury.

The ratings seem to plummit when Ryback is on.

That's a good point I've noticed that, is he really a draw? Imo Goldberg is still too fresh in the core wrestling fans minds to try and replicate the angle.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Silva vs Bonnar may end up getting 400k buys much to my astonishment but I wouldn't be optimistic about the HIAC buyrate. The ratings have been dropping as have the quarter ratings and the build up to the likes Sheamus vs Big Show and Del Rio vs Orton feels pure uninspired.

So there's only one Hell In A Cell match at the PPV? Normally both World Titles were inside the structure and also if HHH was wrestling his match too...

Really looking forward to Atlantas reaction to Ryback, alot of Goldberg chants i would imagine. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

I'm really looking forward to the ppv tonight, maybe because it's on Sky Sports. It's tough to recall the last time a main event was so entirely unpredictable. Surely Punk can't lose the title but surely Ryback can't lose clean as it would entirely destroy his main event potential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭duuuaaaane

I was going to suggest Ryback will use his power to put Punk through the Cell and once the cage was open, Punk would run away.

But with the rating on RAW on Monday, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE panicked and put the belt on Ryback just to create a buzz.

Just spotted this on the Observer:
--Security was told to remove all signs for Bill Goldberg at tonight's show, as they were afraid that they would encourage Goldberg chants since they're in Atlanta and Ryback is in the main event.

Is a sign really going to encourage chanting? Surely the fact the guy is doing a Goldberg gimmick in Goldberg's hometown is more likely to encourage Goldberg chanting.

This could be a long night for Ryback if the fans turn on him strong. Punk is going to have his work cut out carrying him I suspect, although you'd imagine they would have a good plan in place to protect him.

Only three matches I'm interested in really. The two heavyweight title matches and the tag match. Should be an interesting show but maybe not necessarily a good show.

No one was doing it because of signs on RAW, Wrestling fans can smell a BS repeat gimmick from a mile away. Does Vince really thing his fans are so unintelligent as to just forget that someone did the exact same thing less than 15 years ago?

What would be considered the biggest curve ball tonight, presuming any of them did even happen.

    1: Goldberg taking out Ryback.
    2: Brock taking out Ryback.
    3: Ryback winning the Title.
4: Punk going over Ryback clean.
    5: Brock taking out Punk.
6: Heyman screwing Punk and siding with Ryback.

    I believe you forgot 7 and 8!

    7. Ryback turns and joins Punk and heyman

    8. Ryback is attacked before the match by someone in a blond wig meaning Cena will take his place
