I want to take whey protein after a workout to speed up muscle recovery. Will taking protein make me gain a load of weight and make me slower?

    Thanks...

No it's fine. Eating a caloric surplus will make you gain weight not the shake.

It won't make you gain weight unless you're eating a calorie surplus which is ultimately required to gain muscle.

Why do you think weight gain would make you slower?

From what i am told, putting on weight will make u slower when it comes to activities that require high intensity speed...Im guessin this is untrue so?

Well it depends what weight you put on. Take a look at any sprinter in the world they are all massive. As you are going to the gym eating a calorie surplus combined with good workouts will make you stronger and more powerful.

Power is essential in high intensity speed work.

ON is a solid brand and pretty reliable. But a lot of brands will have something similar.

I've heard that the process in which proteins are extracted in your typical protein powder may give you a good source of protein but will lead to toxicity levels in your system so although you may be lean and muscular on the outside, your insides may not be so good.

A recommended product for a good source of protein without the bad stuff was Sun Warrior. http://www.iherb.com/Sun-Warrior?gclid=COqdju6mhbMCFcFN4QodCgoAhQ

This is just what I've heard so I'm not sure what the more knowledgeable posters would think?
