    What are people's opinions on the alternatives to dairy milk?

    Cocnut above soya, kara do a carton version in dunes for the likes of teas etc, its a liquid version. Soya is an inhibitor for so much in the body it's best stay away from forms like milk etc

    what do you mean about soya being an inhibitor?
    Soya beans :
    "For human consumption, soybeans must be cooked with "wet" heat to destroy the trypsin inhibitors (serine protease inhibitors).
    "

    Prep of soya milk :
    Soy milk can be made from whole soybeans or full-fat soy flour. The dry beans are soaked in water overnight or for a minimum of 3 hours or more depending on the temperature of the water. The rehydrated beans then undergo wet grinding with enough added water to give the desired solids content to the final product. The ratio of water to beans on a weight basis should be about 10:1. The resulting slurry or purée is brought to a boil in order to improve its nutritional value by heat inactivating soybean trypsin inhibitor,

    So soya milk is not inhibiting anything.

    Soy has a lot of things wrong with it, the one I avoid it for being the high levels of goitrogens in it.

    So for me soy milk is bottom of the pile but, there's so much variety when it comes to milk that some can be better than coconut or worse, depends on what you want it for.

    For me it would be
    1. Raw milk from a2 cows (haven't tried it yet)
    2. Coconut milk
    3. Normal milk
    4. Almond milk (just to throw another one in, haven't tried this one too)
    5. Soy milk
    Maybe I haven't quite made my mind up about the a2 milk

    God I never even thought about rice milk!

    I don't really know that much about it. I'd probably couple it with almond milk and looking back I might switch around normal milk and almond milk(not alpro stuff) but it kind of depends.

    This is all purely personal preference too so it shouldn't be taken as gospel.

    also dont forget oat milk.
    I'd probly have oatmilk ahead of all of them

    Why?
    I think I'd put that just above soy maybe higher.

    I think oatmilk is delicious. coconut milk is ok and almond milk is good too. but I'm not mad about soya milk or never had "Raw milk"

    I'm going by the health benefits of them, looking at some of the oat, rice or almond milk I'd actually put them just above soy. Some of the ingredients are questionable.

    Raw milk is delicious.

    Coconut milk is best but has to managed well in terms of your overall nutritional intake as its very calorie dense. Get the stuff out of the tin, seen a tetra pak of coconut milk last week and it had 8% coconut milk, grape concentrate and the rest water, rip off.

    Soya milk is evil.

    Just be careful with the likes of the packages almond, rice etc. most of them have a lot of added sugar, so read the label carefully.

    also be careful with the tinned coconut. some of them are mainly water and have nasty preservatives in them
    you really have to look at ingredients of the different brands in each shop and settle on one.
