Sore lips - best lip balm?

For the last fews days, my lips are so sore. Ive been using Vaseline, Neutrogena lip balm and Burts Bees lip balm every couple of hours, but none of them are helping.

I think the reason might be because where I am the days are still pretty warm, but the nights are quite cool so maybe its the change in temperature.

Whatever it is, its driving me crazy - its like a constant tingly/burning sensation and they are so dry when I wake up first thing.

Anyone know of a really good lip balm. I dont care if its expensive.:)

Vaseline is merely a barrier cream and whereas, the petroleum will prevent wind chapping etc., it won't actually replenish lost moisture or repair damage to sore lips. I find both Créme De La Mer and Avéne's Cold Cream Lip Balm great for healing and soothing dry lips

Personally I like Carmex but I have to admit I'm completely addicted to lip balm have been for last 10 years, so much so I'd actually wake up in the middle of the night to reapply it!

Blistex intensive moisturizer or Blistex relief cream if very bad, just brilliant.

I've the kind of skin that gets dry but refuses to absorb any moisturisers I put on! I tried the Body Shop's lip butter, they're about 3euro. Although they sit on the skin (they sink in a good bit though) they're deigned to sit on it and they work best for me!

You could try Burts Bees lip salve (not sure about the spelling, but it's in a lipstick shape holder) - it's available in most Health Food stores. I've been using it for the past few years.

OOps, sorry, see you've tried it already!

Thanks for all the replies. I got Blistex, the medicated ointment one as that was what the shop had. I feel a lot better now with just a days use :)

Along with the balm you're using, be sure to drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated - drink a big glass of water when you go to bed and another when you get up. I for one tend to drink less water in the winter because I want hot drinks...and my skin does dry out more as a result!

My 2c - I find both Carmex and Burt's Bees to be effective for wind-battered lips. :)
