I have just realized after my years that I suffer from Shin Splints. I am a fairly active person and quiet often the Shin Splints of which I had no idea about until now and tbh I have no idea how I came across them online.

What I want to know is what can I do about them, ways to help them, footwear etc. I am in early twenty's and try to keep active and these have being causing problems running and the gym etc. I have become a little lazy of late and I expect them to be worse than ever once I get back. Am I able to go see someone about them?

If there's an Amphibian King near you go there to get your footwear sorted.

I found that my shin splints eased off once I had a good fitting pair of runners.

Other than that I'd suggest just weening yourself back into running and putting bags of frozen peas on your shins if they hurt.

get yourself to a decent physio
get the the injuries worked out

    get decent runners
    foam roll and stretch

I've had them on and off for years, only recently I've discovered the problem with mine was tight as hell soleus muscles, about 2 months ago I took a week of from all activity and stretched them 3 times per day for a week and they are completely gone

I had the same problem, I was getting pains in my shins which I assumed was shin splints. I was getting the pain at the very top of both my shins. I went to the physio and she told me that it wasn't shin splints, it was just that my quad muscle has tightened up an that I just needed to stretch it out more often.
