    Bit late notice, but however decent programme on BBC2 at the minute.

    Two part series where Evan Davis(Dragons Den presenter) examines the infrastructural problems facing Britain in the coming years.

    Pop science for the masses; but nonetheless interesting to see the forward proactive thinking of the Brits verse the approach in this country.

    Pro-active?! They think they're anything but. It was a big sum £500 billion for the big ticket infrastructure projects needed over the next 25 years but when you consider that on an annualised basis and the amount that the state can claw back through taxes, fees, employment and so on its actually sod all, just need to attract the money and get past the army of objectors to each and every project!

    Did anyone catch the name of that Oxford professor talking about the £500bn?

    A similar programme on the infrastructural deficit here would be interesting.

    To be fair my point was that they are proactive compared to the approach in this country.

    And despite how they see themselves, I think my point still stands.

    There would be little in the way of "big" projects for such a programme to salivate over that have any chance of going ahead in the next 10 years.

    There was some revolutionary thinking on display during that bbc effort - such as the crazy wheeze that investing in infrastructure during an economic downturn (depression) might be a good idea! Can't see that catching on here.
