Hospital Question

    Dunno where best to put this

    Someone I know (a dublin resident) had emergency surgery while away for a weekend at the other end of the country a six weeks ago.

    Now she is has to go back to the other end of the country for post operative care. The hospital in question is refusing to refer her to a closer hospital saying that she was operated on here so it will be followed up here.

    Is this normal procedure. I would have thought allowing patients to avoid a four hour drive would generally be considered a good thing by medical professionals.
