Anyone got a decent car?

I remember a few years ago during better times that there were some fast and expensive cars on here. Now it's all talk of diesels and even if someone is looking for advice on a new car it's usually a sensible diesel car. Anyone have a nice motor they'd like to share with us?

Neil had some tasty cars but in the diesel camp now for work. I'd still like to see other peoples cars though

I wonder what do you call a decent car so? For some it might be decent, for some not.

    Something fast and uneconomical!

I've a fairly quick and uneconomical car, just going to try and clean it and get a few pics up

Just a few bolt on mods. The likes of a full exhaust system, induction, fuel pump, uprated rad etc.Boost controller ready to be fitted and then off for a map.

She hasn't been dyno'd before but I's say it would be putting out no more than 250 horses with our crap fuel. Hoping for a little over 300 at the fly after the map.

Had my Evo 5 with the following :
    • Full turbo back HKS exhaust including decat
    • Relocated air filter pipe with Apexi fliter
    • Upgraded walbro fuel pump
    • Decent spark plugs
    • GReddy Boost Controller

Mapped by Johnny in Ai Autosport in Belfast at 1.6 bar and for 95 ron fuel, and was safely putting out just over 350bhp, so i'd say you wont be far off that ;)

It was the S6 I was looking at but I chickened out of it. Lucky though, as it's back up for sale with the reverse gear not working.
    I bought a TT 3.2
Tbh I never thought id buy one!
There's still a few little bits to sort out on it.

Got and Exige S1 myself, photo somewhere on the car photo thread. Seriously quick and nothing goes round corners like one. Funny thing is, it's not too bad on fuel. Light weight gets the performance without needing lots of donkeys.

Well, I'm 62 and live in the UK so not so bad. About £420 this year fully comp., me and wife valued at £20,000. It has in fact gone up a bit this year, people had been insuring Elises and Exiges as seconf cars and using the for commuting and getting knocks hence this year has seen a bit of an increase all round. Mine was £360 last year.

I've had it nine or ten years now and would get more than I paid for it so it is seriously cheap motoring. The sensible looking alternative, Boxter/Cayman, would it fact cost me a lot more due to depreciation as well as a lot more in tyres and brakes so I'll stay with the Exige as long as I can get in and out of it.

It's one of the few cars I have had that has caused people to knock on the door asking if I want to sell it and asking me if I want to sell it at petrol stations.

The 525i looks pretty normal, its meant to be a Q-car.

Bought classic Mercedes magazine this evening and every single page I turned made me want something different. There's a nautical blue 560 in there that's absolutely beautiful.

Not sure if mine counts, it's fastish and uneconomical, Mitsubishi FTO GPvR.

Not in the same league as some of those mentioned already, but definitely not run of the mill.

I do like that 850 Matt, is it easy to live with as a daily?

    For me, yes. :)
What I mean is if you are a good garden wrencher, yeah, no problem, the tech used is fairly basic by 21st century standards. But if someone were to buy one and "pay a man" (or even worse, BMW) it would financially cripple you.

Some parts are horrifically expensive, but its crazily well made (easily the best put together BMW Ive had and Ive had many), here are some prices I got last week which really stood out as pricy:

    - Centre tie rod / drag link - EUR210
    - Front left and right intake manifold gasket - EUR322
    - Rear left and right intake manifold gasket - EUR322
-- Remember its a V12, so needs double gaskets, spark plugs, ignition, MAFs etc.

Terms of driving, regular E31's when setup well drive well, CSi's (its a BMW-M car) on the other hand drive amazing. Rear wheel steering, perfect stance, amazing suspension, 6speed manual gearbox, limited slip differential. Have good tyres and its a fantastic blaster, motorway and backroad. Have bad rears and its a frightening and unforgiving black widow of a car!

Currently driving an M6. If you can afford the tax and petrol there are some sweet cars to be had (relatively) cheaply. Insurance clocks in at €1000 (I'm 32).

    decent car you ask?

    stunning looks
    japanese reliability
air con/ elec windows and mirrors/ power fold mirrors/ parking pole/ cd mp3 player
    130bhp in a biscuit tin
turn it on a 2 pence piece
park it in a trolley bay
rather satisfyin' dump every time you change gear or let off
and get the wrong looks everywhere you go
"chaep" auld tax and goes on the smell of it

i freaking love my car! i dont care if everyone else hates it :)

Does a nice spec 2006 V50 Diesel with a 2 LITRE! qualify? Leather, heated seats, high performance audio, rain sensor, auto-dimming rear view mirror etc.
