Massive game in terms of keeping our little run going in the league and keeping in the top echelons of the league before the break. I would assume we will see little changes apart from Brad,Gallas and Sandro. Hopefully Adebayor is fit to figure at some stage. COYS

Whatever team is played, they need to play for 90 minutes plus injury time. None of this "we're great for 45 minutes" crap, the game isn't won on one half of football. They were so crap at the basics last night that I got a little worried.

Strongest lineup possible, starting with Gylfi because Dempsey hasn't done anything really so far (not that Gylfi has done much either) and Sandro to start. Ade to come on for Defoe or Gylfi after 60 - 70 minutes.

That Ozzie lad Villa have playing in the middle of the park is fairly decent, I was watching him last Sunday. He’s like a dog that never stops running. So if anyone’s feeling lethargic they could be in for a game.

Villa keeper is decent, Bent will probably score if he starts? I’ve a feeling were going to draw this, been pedestrian at home. Time for some sexy football please.

I have been very impressed with the new personnel in defence -at times. Always a but with us Spurs.

Fancy us to win this one. Villa have been shocking away from home and AVB will be determined to build on the Unireh result.

The longer Ade is out of the side the better for me. Just didnt convert enough chances last season and our defence are chipping in with a few.

I'm on the same page here. Maybe not 3-0 but we should win this one.

I think I'm right in saying that they're missing Ireland through injury. He's been keeping his head down and staying off the rader, doing a lot of good things for Villa this season so far. He'll be a big loss.

They're full of energy and buzzing everywhere, they seem to be liking Lamberts style. They still haven't nailed it though and can be exposed, especially at the back. Guzan has the No1 jersey now for sure and he's on fire at the moment.

Play like Spurs and we'll win. Attack them and we'll win. Their innocence in their new style and new players will give us an advantage if we go at them. It will also allow them zero innabitions and to build momentum if we stand off them. One things for sure, under Lambert they won't be afraid of us.

Massive call, and very unfair on Brad who hasn't done a thing wrong. I'm sure he's not happy but as you said it was inevitable. I feel sorry for him as that's the end of his consecutive games record too.

    http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/145484/1/watch-tottenham-hotspur-vs-aston-villa.html

these streams are usually decent quality & reliable ...

Im hoping for a 3 nil score where we get another early goal but actually go for the jugular & finish off the game as early as possible....... I can see bent sneaking a jammy goal though villa have just got going so should be a tough game...

    coys....defoe hatrick please..

Some dive from Bale there. Should have been booked for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Shocking dive by Bale, just shocking.

Vertonghen showing his class already, great player...

This is quite frustrating to watch. Plenty of possession but no penetration. Bale isn't playing well and Dempsey is very quiet. Loads of misplaced passes too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭Seillejet

Hugo and Vertonghen have been the positives for me and Sandro has broken up Villa play quite well.

We just are not clicking yet.

Villa are awful too so doesnt bode well for Chelsea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

It's in games like this that we miss VDV. Dempsey & Gylfi aren't anywhere near his standard and neither have shown that they will get anywhere near what he could do.

Lloris has looked good though, which is encouraging.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

    I feel sorry for Brad!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Let's hope that's our crap 45 minutes out of the way and we'll come out in the 2nd all guns blazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭Seillejet

Nice touch from both fans the reception Petrov got too.

Bale has been frustrating, shocking dive and should have buried the first chance in the 30 seconds.

Lloris distribution has been excellent and JD is doing his usual shooting on sight and not picking up Dempsey.

That said I think our class will tell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

I'm kinda glad it's 0-0, means we have to play in the second half which is something we've been terrible at

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,058 ✭✭✭tippspur

Very flat first half, even the crowd are quiet.hope to see a bit more life in the next half.

It's like having two Gareth Bales on the field.;)

God that was a poor half of football. Get Ade on for JD, the man can't play up top on his own. Also where is Dempsey supposed to be playing, he has been anonymous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

Verts and Hugo playing very well.

    Dempsey anonymous. Sandro playing poorly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

That was close!! Lloris in the right place otherwise it was a definite goal.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

LLoris nearly caused one there, Freidel wouldn't have done that

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,353 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

    1-0. Defoe Caulker!

Seeing the replay, that shot was going wide. Awful shot, but got the deflection :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Good man JD!! 30 today, 200 PL goals, Spurs 1 up. :D

Hehe it goes down as Caulker's goal! JD still needs his 200th then!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,058 ✭✭✭tippspur

Bent coming on to score against his old club :( I can see it happening.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,353 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

2-0! That's more like it from Lennon.

Great win, with a very comfortable 2nd half from them today. Totally controlled the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭KingdomYid

3pts is all I will say about that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Much better in the 2nd half and another win. Still haven't seen 90 minutes of good football, which needs to be sorted out, but it's still 3 points and we're now only outside the top 4 on goal difference.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Happy with the win although a few things I didn't like. Our players were dispossessed far too easily. Walker is always a worry. WTF is wrong with Bale these days, maybe he needs some time on the bench to reflect on how bad he's playing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,013 ✭✭✭davycc

great 2-0 win & we could have had 4 some real sitters missed by dempsey esp..

a clean sheet & its over to newcastle to get a win v manu & rock their season again lol...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭Hatch99

    2 goals.
    Clean sheet.
    Lloris introduced.
    Adebayor back.
Parker, BAE, Livermore all to return after the international break. Kaboul still to join in too.
