As I Kildare fan I hope we get a good tough game to start, we seemed too confident against Meath this year after beating Offaly easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

In football, I'd prefer to avoid Cork and Kerry for our first game. But we did last year and we managed to **** it up, so I don't know. Are we any more likely to win a Munster title this year? I really don't know...maybe another qualifier run would serve us better.

As for hurling, avoid Tipp. Think we can definitely beat anyone else. Should be a very interesting Championship next year, think all 5 teams are as close in quality as they've ever been.

For Cork just hope we avoid Tipp in hurling. Sick of meeting each other.

Football who cares when we meet Kerry.

Marty just said "The Leinster Championship is probably the most interesting and intriguing there is"

lol. Want what he is on

Galway have easy side of semi.

I think it's good that one of the "lesser" teams are sure to get to the semi.

    Not fcuking Tipp again

    Tipp v Limerick

Clare v Waterford winners play Cork

    Happy enough with that

True. Just Galway will win it easy enough unless they really take it for granted.

What have they done so far along with Munster? Connacht?

Handy enough for Galway in Leinster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,909 ✭✭✭Neeson

So there doesnt be Connacht or Ulster in the hurling? I missed the start. Where do Antrim and all come in?

Antrim play in Leinster. They've drawn Westmeath I believe

No and Antrim are in the Leinster draw from the start.

    As are London.

Cork v Kerry Munster Final is on anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

We get the reigning Munster champions in the preliminary round of both codes....just great :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,656 ✭✭✭cgpg5

Oh my word could Galway have gotten a softer Leinster hurling draw? :D

Still don't fancy coming into play KK cold but at the end of the day at least we're as good as guaranteed a quarter final before a ball is pucked

    Galway v Mayo in Salthill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Ridiculous having the draw at this point. My All-Ireland final tickets still haven't cooled down from being in my pocket and they are having the draw already. It should be months away. March, or even early April. Come the championship itself and the qualifiers, teams only know a week or two beforehand who they meet, and that works out fine. Still looks like a Fr. Ted's raffle with the way they do it. "Give it a good spin there", results in it hardly moving, and eyes watching closely where each cannister is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭Youssef Chippo

Most of the draws are so predictable, time to scrap the provincial championships IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,238 ✭✭✭Justin10

Think its just to keep the GAA in the papers I suppose. Something to talk about before the Club championship kicks into gear.

    Galway v Mayo in Salthill.

While Galway would never ever fear their neighbours it is still looking like a first round exit and you know their back door record since 2001!

Looking at it the other way, it is probably the toughest draw Mayo could have gotten

I disagree. I want to win Munster.

The world is gonna end in 2 months so these draws are pointless :P

Mayo will be deserved favourites but they rarely find it easy to win in Galway even when fancied to. Lot depends on whether Galway can get their act together a bit over the winter.

Great chance for Sligo to get back to another Connacht final.

    Derry v Down

2 very interesting draws in Ulster

The hurling draw really is a joke

I am happy with that football draw for Wexford

    Offaly again

Things must be tight around RTE, all the old jerseys hanging up behind the lads :D

Just realised it will be 40 years since ye last won Hurling AI next year.

Love to see Limerick/Clare/ Waterford lift Liam.

    Hurling needs new winner asap.

****e draw for kildare....if we beat offaly we're thrown into it then against Dublin more than likely. would of preferred a tough game to start (no offence to offaly, just basing that on this year)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,134 ✭✭✭Tom Joad

Worst thing possible from a Cavan point of view going into the draw was to get one of the big teams in the preliminary round with a possible early exit and a 4-6 wait for the qualifiers.

Boy did we get what I feared  - Armagh in preliminary ouch.. but on the positive side we are on the easier side of the draw - straws I know. Armagh probably favourites to get to final. Other side of draw is interesting with Donegal, Tyrone, Down and Derry - whoever comes out of that will have earned their place in the Ulster final. If Donegal win Ulster they will be unstopable next year.

Meath and Dublin probably happiest in Leinster..

In connacht Sligo probably happiest with a straightforward route to final avoiding the other big 3..

Munster draw done no favours for teams outside Kerry and Cork...

Didn't Leitrim beat Sligo only last year?

No Sligo beat Galway and lost final to Mayo AFAIK...

Sligo got to Connacht final this year?

In 2011, Leitrim did beat them alright, I think. Still, Sligo would be pretty confident you'd think.

Yes correct - had forgotten about that but would still fancy Sligo to make final next year based on that draw..

Not sure how RTE manage to take an hour to do the door. Also not sure I can complain considering I sat through it all. Mayo vs Galway should get a good attendance early on in the year same with a couple of the Munster Hurling games as usual. Ulster football looking the most interesting at the moment IMO.

Sligo's confidence is usually their downfall. Leitrim also beat them in 2005. Galway will be up for the Mayo game however are they good enough to beat the All Ireland finalist? In Leinster it's hard to look past Dublin again Another Cork v Kerry Munster final and in Ulster Donegal have to do it the hard way again but they are more than capable.

Galway have easy side of semi.

Offaly v Kilkenny winners play Dublin v Wexford

That is a crock of Sh1t of a draw, Galway guaranteed a quarter final slot before a ball is pucked. Clare/Waterford have to go to hell and back for the same opportunity.

Ulster has the best draw out of the lot IMO

Fair better than a seeded draw, for Clare, straight into a semi for the football, can't see us going beyond that, especially seeing as they can't get anyone to take the job.

In hurling, I'm actually happier having a first round round draw than anything else, didn't matter who we got, our goals next year has to be to solidify division 1 status and win a Munster Championship match.

What a complete lopsided draw. That's the way the cookie crumbles but when you see Cork & Kerry kept apart til final, while Donegal face Tyrone in 1/4 finals & Mayo meet Galway in 1/4 finals

We could possibly see the reigning All Ireland champions & runners up knocked out of their provinces & into back door in their 1st match. What then if they bloody draw each other in qualifiers?

Great excitement early doors but weakens comp in the latter stages & once again Ulster giants in a war zone in may while Kerry & Cork are in 1st gear until July

To be fair, Kerry & Cork played each other early on this year. And Galway and Mayo could have played it each other at the same stage last year but didn't... I don't think Galway have the right to call themselves a strong team anymore.

At the end of the day, the best teams rise to the top. Donegal had a few tough games last year but came through them all. Mayo had to beat Dublin to get to the final, not many people thought that would happen.

Galway v Mayo will still be one of the biggest games early next Summer. Even though Mayo will probably go in warm favourites they have a pretty poor record historically on Galway soil in championship football. Would not surprise me if that turns into quite a tight game but obviously Galway have a lot of work to do over the winter while Mayo will probably just tinker here and there.
