OK I will try not to ramble on here.

I have always had big thighs and calves and I'm at a point where it's just depressing!

I yo-yo a Bit in terms of weight and diet but when I do it right I tend to lose weight from the top down : Face -> Back -> Stomach and then a little off the thighs but the Calves always stay the same.
I don't know if it's genes (mother and sisters same shape) lifestyle (grew up walking up a lot of hills) or just bad diet and exercise.

I walk a lot 2-3 hours a day fast pace. I am walking with my baby so I can't jog or run though. I do squats and lunges to help the thighs so what can I do to shave some inches of the calves?
I have a stepper but I don't know if that will help.
    I can't really go to
a gym or class because I have a four month old Baby so realistically I would only be able to go once a week and I'm not sure if that will help me.
    Any suggestions?
Also my knees are quite weak so any tips on how to strengthen them?

Some people store more fat in certain areas and others not. It's good that you're getting 2-3 fast walking a day but in order to lose fat you'll need to build your strength.

Building you strength is NOT getting bulky but just building muscle and strength! Weight training burns fat quite quickly. Can you add weights to your squats and lunges? Or perhaps walk uphill for most of the time?

Thanks for the reply, I have a beast of a hill I can push the pram up so hopefully that will help to strengthen me a bit

don't worry if you struggle the first time, take it easy! I pushed myself into 5km of running too early and I could spit out a sentence throughout it and now I'm doing couch to 5km and although I'm only running a 5 min intervals I can already feel the difference!

Post up your diet, there's plenty of people here who can advise you on it.

If your knees are weak you should work on strengthening your leg muscles particularly quads, hamstrings and glutes. Squats are a great exercise once done correctly and there are a number of variations you can use. Squats were a big part of my knee rehab and definitely played a huge part in my recovery.
