Stockings or Tights

What would be the preference for the ladies on here to wear. My wife was a fan of stockings but has gone off wearing them the last couple of years, it's tights all the way now which is a pity as i much prefer hold ups. She will wear hold ups if we are going to a wedding or something like that but not everytime.
