Assume this will be on Sky Sports at some stage.
Probably worth a look for the first week or two before it goes the way of Superstars/Heat

    Source: Prowrestling.net
WWE Main Event Taping (Airing Wednesday):

Michael Cole and The Miz were on commentary. They introduced the show and spoke about the lineup.

C.M. Punk and Paul Heyman were interviewed by Matt Striker in the backstage area.

    Sheamus did a backstage interview.

    * Santino Marella and Zack Ryder defeated Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel in a first-round tag team tournament match. A decent match that saw Kid and Gabriel work over Santino the majority of the time.

    * C.M. punk defeated Sheamus in a champion vs. champion match. Good back and forth match. Sheamus missed the Brogue Kick and hit his head on the turnbuckle. Punk got the pin. After the match, Sheamus cut a promo in which he said he was going to face Punk again and would hit the Brogue Kick on him.

The main event for next week’s show was announced as Randy Orton vs. Big Show.

Would have prefered Kidd/Gabriel to win

You can read an illustrated recap here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.ie/2012/10/wwe-main-event-debut-1032012-review.html

Interestingly they build up the main event huge beforehand and not only that they do the 80's Saturday Night Main Event structure of having a match after the main event.

What do you mean make us? It's been more than 3 weeks as a wrestling fan you are not required to remember anything before then! :P

Punks vignette was by far the better one of the two!
Almost a teaser of his documentary !

I am 90% sure it was part of the preview of the documentary we seen a few weeks ago. Looked a lot more professional that the Sheamus one that was thrown together on a wet afternoon.

They should really teach Sheamus how to pronounce WWE.

They should really teach Sheamus how to pronounce WWE.

alot of irish people have problems pronouncing "w" i notice, here in roscommon they say "doubla"

Good show with two very good matches. More of this and less AJ crap /10 minute whine fests and the WWE should be onto a winner.

I was very surprised to hear the term Professional Wrestler mentioned in Punk's promo as I thought that was forbidden in the WWE.

It's not "Benoit" banned, but it is frowned upon!

Lately he's just being saying doubla E, where as before he at least made the effort to say the second doubla. :pac:

The WWE does not have enough talent on their roster to have another show. Vince McMahon is losing the plot.

Ha myself and my brothers always used to say WF or now its WE. Don't know why myself just do it.

So did we. So did everyone, in fact. They used to have '"WF" at the bottom-corner of screen and you'd always see "WF Attitude" on their advertisements.

It's more of a "Doubla Doublee"

they have enough talent but not enough starpower, there is a big difference, people like kidd, perfect jr, hunico, drew, hawkins, gabriel, barreta, dibiase jr, tatsu are all talented in-ring workers that never get a look in on sd or raw (or if they do its 1 min squashes)

anyway by all accounts they are getting paid well for this show and it costs them nothing to produce seeing as its taped before sd so everything is already in place

I thought this was a very good show. I'll tune in next week to see the Big Show as well. But I think we can take it for granted that in the space of about 4 weeks, the people who you just listed will be the main event players on there. If it means more T.V time, great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I thought the match between Sheamus and Punk was very good. Worth going out of your way to see. I think a feud between those two would be great at some point as they look to have good chemistry.

Was probably from the day after he won the title at Survivor Series? A great promo. He said he's a professional wrestler, not a sports entertainer; and said the WWE fans were not a universe. I don't think he ever talked like that again though.

Anyone watched week 2? Highlights include Miz's suit jacket, Orton growing his hair out and that's it. Next week is Kofi vs Miz for the IC Title and FUN.

The video packages for each wrestler before the Main Event match is a great idea, can they use this more often, it really really makes the match seem much more important than it should!

Wasn't mad about the dueling promos at the start but Miz vs Dolph is a fantastic TV match imo. Babyface Miz may work after all.

This show is quickly becoming one of the only good shows that WWE are producing! How it doesn't go down the road the "New" NXT, which is quickly becoming unwatchable S##TE!
Miz and Ziggler had a great match this week!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Miz wasn't able to win at survivor series though the poor guy. I know how much that meant to him judging by that ppv ad he did wanting to knock it off on his bucket list.

Cena v Sandow next week! Looking forward to that one.

I'd agree about the match, I dug it very much, and disagree about the verbal exchange beforehand. Ziggler is starting to strike me as more natural in these live-mic segments, and The Miz is quickly proving that he's still keeping the attitude despite changing alignments, so I felt the babble beforehand was pretty successful.

The verbal exchange was "You're a failure and I'm not!" for ten minutes. Back in my day you at the very least you subtlely built up your opponent. *grabs pipe and slippers*

I'm willing to give face Miz a chance, it can't be as bad as when he first started with all that "Mizfits, HOO RA!"

    Cesaro v Orton

    PTPs v Uso's

Brad Maddox on Commentary!!! (go to 33 to hear it)

It does go out of sync though

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

Maddox was utterly amazing. If you liked the last 6-7 months of NXT Redemption you will love this. Also if you close your eyes it is like being whisked back to a 1996 Nitro and listening to Eric Bischoff.

I thought Orton vs Cesaro was really good and Cesaro continues to look like he belongs at the main event level to an increasing degree each week.

Heavyweight championship tag team belts on the line!

No,there's no titles on the line.

    Yep,they're playing for pride!

    WWE Smackdown TV taping results
    February 5, 2013
    Jacksonville, Fla.
Report by Josh Parry, PWTorch correspondent

Dark Match: Bo Dallas beat Corey Graves. Surprisingly, Bo got a genuinely impressive reaction. Bo won with the same slam he pinned Wade Barrett with.

JBL tripped on the way to the ring for Main Event, but played it off like a champ.

    Main Event SPOILERS 2/6

Cody Rhodes said he is holding Main Event hostage until Booker T comes out and puts him in the Elimination Chamber match. Michael Cole came on the mic and said that Booker is not here tonight. Instead, Rhodes gets to face Sheamus. Sheamus came out impersonating Booker, Vickie Guerrero, and Mr. McMahon before shoving Cody out of the ring to set up their match.

    (1) Sheamus beat Cody Rhodes with the Brogue Kick in 15 minutes. Solid, hard-hitting match. There was a nice top-rope enziguiri spot from Rhodes and a nice fallaway slam into the ringside barricade from Sheamus.

Damien Sandow came out and explained that Cody's loss was a travesty and that he will avenge Cody's loss against Daniel Bryan next.

    (2) Damien Sandow beat WWE tag champion Daniel Bryan. Kane's ringpost pyro erupted during Bryan's finishing routine, allowing Damien to hit the straight-jacket neckbreaker for the win. Kane came to ringside and stared down Bryan post-match.

    (3) Cameron & Naomi beat Aksana & Tamina in Divas action. Naomi, who was particularly impressive, won with a big dropkick. Brodus Clay was on commentary.

    [Credit: PWTorch]

Continuing to push the Bryan/Kane feud which will obviously accumulate at Wrestlemania.

Naomi gives it socks after getting the hot tag.

Those who have seen Cesaro vs Kingston this week are raving about it. It is in the ****+ range:
Great show. Cesaro and Kingston was an awesome match and Cesaro was really at his best here. The announcers were even marking out and it is definitely a must see match. Slater/Gabriel was pretty good too with Slater busting out a top rope bodyslam. This is a must see Main Event and was one of the better editions of the show.

Can't find it online on any of the video sites except for the short highlight version on the WWE:

Can't wait to go home and download it.

It is your classic WWE Main Event match with sports/UFC style pre and post match interviews. With consequences and things mattering and stuff.
