It's that time of the year again, County Championships entering the closing stages.
I will start of with a huge weekend in Roscommon especially for Padraig Pearses.
    Senior Hurling Semi-Final Replay:
Athleague v Padraig Pearses Saturday 14:00 winner takes on holders and favourites Four Roads
Junior A Football Semi-finals: Saturday Pádraig Pearses V Michael Glaveys 15:30
    Oran V St Croan's 17:30
    Intermediate Championships Semi-Final:, St Aidan's V Boyle 15:30 Aidan's favourites here
    Senior Football Semi-Final: Elphin V St Bridgid's 17:00
Brigid's hot favourites here but Elphin could upset them.
Sunday St Dominic's V St Michael's 13:00 Dominic's are last years runners-up might edge this one
Senior Football Semi-Final: Roscommon Gaels V Pádraig Pearses 17:30. Hard to call this one, will start major underdogs in the final whoever wins

:o oops, forgot about that one..when was that, must be 2 months now...
McGees were not on the bus today, must be preparing themselves for Glenswilly:p
McCumhaills must fancy a shock, considering 6 St.Micheals lads on squad.

Brigid's-Elphin is likely to decide who plays the Galway champions in the Connacht semi-final. Frankie Dolan is out after being red-card against Western Gaels and Elphin looked fantastic in dispatching a fancied Clann team. It could be a cracker.

we have the first of our football semis this saturday palatine vs rathvilly. this is will be preceded by the replay of last weeks drawn quarter final between o'hanrahans and tinryland, should be two good tight games

The Wexford senior football final is being played next Sunday and it's sure to be a belter. St.Anne's versus Castletown. Castletown are appearing in their third straight decider, and despite only really hitting top form in their semi-final win over a fancied St.Martin's, and with their captain suspended, they go into the game as 8/11 favourites. St.Anne's have won all their matches in the championship so far but truth be told haven't really been tested in ANY of their matches. Nice price at 11/8 though. Red Barry is the top scorer in the championship and is in fabulous form and will take some stopping, whereas Castletown are probably stronger collectively. It's going to be an exciting match!

The Meath SFC is at the quarter final stage and there's still no county manager in place to have a look at the players (thanks a lot Meath county board). The quarter final's are this weekend.

Navan O'Mahony's v Simonstown Gaels (Navan derby)
    Summerhill v Seneschalstown
    St. Patrick's v Wolfe Tones
    Donaghmore/Ashbourne v St. Peter's Dunboyne

O'Mahony's are (as they almost always are) favourites to become champions. I've a feeling that Donaghmore/Ashbourne could be a good bet though.
Closer to home, my club (Ratoath) will be promoted to Intermediate if they beat Simonstown's second team in the Junior semi final on Saturday.

In the hurling, it's at the semi final stage:
    Longwood v Killyon
    Kildalkey v Kiltale

Kildalkey are looking for their fourth hurling championship in a row.

I love this thread every year....
Roscommon; Bridgets hammered Elphin in one semi and play reigning Intermediate champions Padraig Pearses(Ros. side of Ballinasloe) in the final. Intermediate St Aidens (Ballyforan/Four Roads) await winners of St Dominics (Knockrockery)/St Michaels(Coothall) replay next saturday. Four Roads Hurlers face Padraig Pearses in snr Hurling final, while in Junior Michael Glaveys (Ballinlough) play Oran in the final.

In Sligo, townies St Mary's face kingpins Curry in the final. Glencar/Manorhamilton go for a 5 in a row versus neighbours Melvin Gaels in Leitrim final. Salthill/Knocknacarra play Tuam in galway final, while in Mayo Ballaghdereen/Knockmore and Ballintubber/Crossmalina play semi finals next week. Ballinubber have apparently lost Cillian O Connor with a dislocated shoulder sustained in a league game last weekend.

In Longford, Slashers go for a 3 in a row versus a young Emmet Og team from Killoe, who play their first final since 1995, having won it last in 1987. They feature Aussie Rules returnee Michael Quinn and Longford's top scorer Sean McCormack amongst their ranks.Mark my words this will draw one of the biggest co final crowds in the country all year. The Junior was won by Legan last weekend, while in the intermediate celebrity bainisteoir
    finalists
Cashel were beaten by a point by Granard.

I'm off to the Louth Final on Sunday, anyone got any inside track on this one form wise?

Cavan senior football final replay is this coming Sunday with Kingscourt (2010 winners) playing Mullahoran (2006 winners). I would expect Kingscourt to win by 1 or 2 points. What's unusual about the county championship this year is that it is first final since 1999 that Cavan Gaels (minus a certain Mr Johnston) do not feature in.

This is a double header with the Intermediate final between Lacken and Cootehill. My prediction would be Lacken by a 3 points.

The Limerick hurling final is on Sunday too, Adare are playing Kilmallock. Kilmallock are strong favourites after comfortably beating the reigning Limerick & Munster champions Na Piarsaigh in the semi-final.

Adare will give them a game, I think Hannon will be back for it which will be a big boost but Kilmallock should have too much for them in the end.

We have got to the Semi Final stages in the Football Championship here in Kerry, the quarter finals were played last weekend

    Dr. Crokes 1-13 v 0-8 Austin Stacks

    Dingle 2-12 v 1-13 Feale Rangers

    Kenmare District 2-11 v 1-21 St Kieran's Castleisland

    Laune Rangers 3-13 v 2-4 Rathmore/

    Dingle v St Kieran's Castleisland

    Intermediate Club Football Final is

    Finuge v Spa Killarney

The Junior Club Football Final is

    Kenmare Shamrocks v Na Gaeil

The Senior Hurling final is on this weekend,it sees Ballyduff going for three in a row against Lixnaw, who have had a few busy weeks most of the Lixnaw team makes up the Finuge team that made the Intermediate Club Football Final and some of them were playing for Feale Rangers last weekend in County Championship.

In Clare things are at the semi final stage in both hurling

Clonlara will face Newmarket in one semi whilst in the other, Inagh Kilnamona will play the winners of a Cratloe V Kilmaly replay.

Clonlara are the favourites with Cratloe probably 2nd. However dual commitments of a lot of the Cratloe players could cost them. If they win their Q final replay next weekend, they'll be out in the semi-final the weekend after. That'll be 5 weeks straight that some of them have played championship hurling or football.

Kilmallock beat Adare 1-15 to 0-15 in the Limerick hurling final. Adare lead at half-time, but Kilmallock grew into the game in the 2nd half, a goal from Jake Mulcahy followed 3 points in a row as they turned the game.

Adare relied too much on Hannon for scores, he got 11 points in all. Kilmallock had a wider spread of scorers, I think both Paudie O'Dwyer and Paudie O'Brien got 3 points from play each. Graham Mul didn't even score.

Should have a decent chance in Munster.

Carbury v Sarsfields in the final in 2 weeks time.

Selfish post on my behalf, but my home club, Ratoath, are Meath Junior champions :D
Had some fantastic juvenile and minor teams over the past number of years (we're current Meath minor champions) and these players are finally coming through into the adult team.

In the SFC, the semi finals are next Sunday:
    O'Mahony's v Donaghmore/Ashbourne
    Seneschalstown v Wolfe Tones

Each side is littered with county players, but I think it'll be a Don/Ash v Seneschalstown final. It's extremely likely that I'll be completely wrong though.

Padraig Pearses produced a stunning fightback to draw with 'drive for five' Four Roads in the Rosccommon Senior Hurling Championship, being 15-9 down with 10 minutes left, the game finished 1-13 to 0-16. The replay is next Saturday, with Pearses playing the Senior Football Final 24 hours later vs St Brigids, rather a unique situation.

De La Salle will play Dungarvan in the 2012 Waterford SHC Final this Sunday. As the county rotates venues for the final between Walsh Park in the City and Fraher Field in Dungarvan, the latter venue will have it's turn to host this year.

DLS, along with Ballygunner, would have been bookies favourites at the start of the season. DLS have been very strong in the Group Stages, beating teams by margins of 21, 26 and 30 points. They got a fright in the QF against Lismore where they were leading comfortably in the 2nd half but nearly threw the game away, and also had a more difficult semi against Mount Sion than they would have liked.

Dungarvan were intermediate champions in 2009, and have been consistently performing all year. They've beaten teams like Ballygunner and Fourmilewater in the semi final (FMW are the only team to have beaten DLS in 2012 early in the Group stages), and certainly deserve their place in the final.

Dungarvan having home advantage will pack out the venue, but I wonder if the pressure of the occasion get to them - DLS will be very experienced in this regard. Personally I think that DLS's firepower coupled with their experience should result in a win with a few points to spare. However, they were rattled in the closing stages of both the QF and SF by conceding goals, so their are questions which Dungarvan may also be able to ask of them here, so it might not be a straightforward exercise for DLS on the day.

Yes,most of the county football championship down here is made up of divisional sides,Paul Galvin's club Finuge is one of the clubs that makes up the Feale Rangers team.

County hurling final was played yesterday,Ballyduff beat Lixnaw 1-15 to 1-9 they now have won three in a row
Be interesting to see how they get on this year in Munster Intermediate Club Championship, they got to the final last year
and were beat by Effin of Limerick

Cratloe make up the final semi0final spot in the Clare SHC.
The beat Kilmaly something like 3-12 to 1-09. Cathal macInerney bagged 3-2.
That's hattricks in consecutive quarter finals for him, he knocked in a similar score last year V Tulla.
They progress to play Inagh-Kilnamona next weekend. Clonlara V Newmarket in the other.

In football Doora-Barefield are into the final for the 2nd year in a row. They beat Doonbeg by a point or 2.

Othher semi-final was a draw between Kilrush Shamrocks & Kilmurry Ibrikane

Both these went along expected lines, with Thurles winning rather comfortably with Lar Corbett and Pa Bourke playing very well.

Second game was indeed a cracker and went to extra time with Drom eventually prevailing after Loughmore had a man put off in extra time. Callinan scored something redic like 1-13.

All evidence from last few games suggest Sars will win next Sundays final, and personally I think rather cosily, on paper they have an amazing squad of players - 14 of the 15 that started have played for Tipperary - I actually think they could go all hte way this year, something they really should have done already with the resources they have.

In Carlow Eire og beat O'Hanrahans 3-11 to 0-7 in semi final on sat. To set up a final v Palatine.
Last 2 years Old Leighlin won co title in Carlow...but did nothing in Leinster.

Eire Og won 5 Leinsters in the 90's and even O'Hanrahans won 1 in 2000. EO when they last won co title a few years ago got to a Leinster semi again.

In some clubs a co title is the pinnacle, but for EO it'd be great...but we'd be aiming for a shot at Portlaoise in qf and whoever wins that has an amazing chance to win Leinster.

the second carlow semi in the football was played last saturday with eire og beating town rivals o'hanrahans, so this sunday will see eire og and palatine play in the final, these two great rivals always produce exciting games, the last time they met in the final it went to a replay with eire og advancing, on a side note to this eire og are going for a clean sweep of all competitions this year, having already won u12 u14 u16 and junior, they are also in the minor final sunday which the are hot favorites to win and they are in the intermediate and u21 finals to, if they pull it off surely it will be a first in the country??

our two hurling semi were played yesterday with erins own(bagenalstown) beating ballinkillen, whilst reigning all ireland intermediate champions mount leinster rangers beat naomh eoin, rangers will be warm favorites going into the final in two weeks, and if they win will fancy their chances of causing a shock in the leinster club senior

Curry retained the Sligo senior title beating St Marys (sligo town) 1-16 to 1-10 (open to correction on score)

In Leitrim, Glencar/Manorhamilton's attempt at 5 senior titles fell at the final hurdle when neighbours Melvin Gaels beat them 2-07 to 7. I'm told they enjoyed beeping the horns passing through Manorhamilton on the way home with the cup. Melvin won the Intermediate title last year.

Pat already mentioned Padraig Pearses and Four Roads drew the Roscommon senior final on Sunday. Pearses now play the replay on Saturday before playing the senior football final v St Bridgets on Sunday.Pearses also reached the junior A football semi this year, and i'm told this team were effected greatly by the two semifinals(junior football/senior hurling) clashing the same day.

Well I'm a sick man this week. St.Anne's deservedly took the Wexford senior football championship after a one-sided 2-14 to 0-8 victory over my club Castletown. Redmond Barry put in argueably one of the greatest ever performances in a senior football final and finished the game with 1-9 and the man of the match award. Thoroughly deserved from a player who was by and away the best player in the local championship this year, and was probably Wexford's most consistent performer overall too. Hard to stomach a crushing twelve point defeat, but Castletown didn't show up on the day and it's a somewhat worrying sign that after winning their tenth title in 2010, they have gone down by an aggregate score of nineteen points in the last two finals. It was St.Anne's fifth title overall, first since 2001 and richly deserved.

Time to drown my sorrows this weekend

Galway football final live on TG4 tomorrow, Salthill/Knocknacarra v Tuam Stars, followed by Tipp hurling final deferred.

Four Roads 5 in a row hurling roscommon winners today, beating Padraig Pearses in a replayed final. Pearses play Bridgets in football final tomorrow.

Mentioned the Longford final earlier, which takes place tomorrow. was talking to a woman from Killoe yesterday. They play in both minor and senior finals, with no less than TEN sets of brothers involved in both games!!

bridgets odds on favourites as one would expect (they have won the last two connacht titles) but pearses have ten players 21 or younger starting which is incredible at senior level

Wolfe Tones leading Seneschalstown 1-2 to no score early on in the other semi final.

Shane Curtin running riot in Pearse Stadium, call him up quick Mulholland! Conor Doherty needs to be brought out the pitch. I assume Salthill are playing against a wind, they took some shots there which swirled all over the place.

    Will be interesting second half

My outstanding memory from the GAA camps when I was younger was getting winded and passing out because of a shot from Shane Curtain. :(
    He's playing well though.

I always thought Conor was a half back. Dunno where I got that notion from!

Haha really? How old is he? Think I remember him playing a minor final in 2005 against my own club in the stadium but I could be wrong? He has some left boot on him

Yeah Doherty is far more effective out the field. Was indeed wing back for minors when they won the AI in 07 and played wing forward for under 21s in 2011! Great ball carrier and athlete so I think he's wasted inside!

Wolfe Tones lead 1-12 to 8 points in the Meath SFC semi final. Cian Ward has kicked 11 points. It's so frustrating when he regularly does the business for Wolfe Tones from frees yet has some nightmares for Meath.

11 points is an amazing return. Week in,week out he plays fantastic for Tones and he's like a totally different player when he's wearing the Green and Gold!

Kenmare won the Kerry Junior Club Championship yesterday beat Na Gaeil on a scoreline of Kenmare 13pts Na Gaeil 10pts

The Senior County Championship semi finals were played today in Tralee, the results are

    Dr Crokes 0-14 v 1-3 Laune Rangers
    Dingle 4-5 v 0-14 St Kieran's Castleisland

Just a side note to the St Kierans team, they were victims of a robbery during training one night, the thieves took all their
phones, cash etc from the dressing rooms while the team were training, one lad even had his work tools stolen
    out of his van.
