Need for Speed Most Wanted

Just after seeing the Get Wanted trailer, and this looks savage.

A Criterion Game, as they have so blatently told us, this looks like the brilliance that was the first Most Wanted mixed with Criterions inane ability to make excellent driving games. And, along with the brilliant AutoLog, you can now switch cars on the fly, mid chase. Pull up next to another car you want to drive, and drive it! All cars available from the start, you just have to find them. Plus, damage models look damn good.

If it's anything like Burnout Paradise (and lets be honest, it will be), this will be fan-friggen-tastic! Been waiting for another Burnout game since Paradise, and looks like this is it. Probably should rename it Burnout: Need for Speed.

Very much looking forward to this. One of the only games in the remainder of 2012 that is a Day One purchase.

looks day 1 purchase to me :D

can anyone tell me if its a carrie on from need for speed the run? cause the story ended in that like their was gonna be a number 2

Something tells me there won't be a huge story in this one, and it's not a sequel to anything if i'm correct. It has 10 Most Wanted racers to take down, very similar to the first Most Wanted.

I think their main focus was on MP. No lobbies, just start and go.

It's also got a thing called Cloudcompete, which allows you to have the 1 profile on different platforms, ie: have it on the 360 & PC, but ranking up carries from one to the other and vica versa. Excellent move from Criterion, and sure to see the sales double because of this: who doesn't have different friends lists for different platforms?

Probably get it anyway but i hope its more Hot Pursuit than original MW add a dash of Burnout and i will be happy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,381 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

According to Criterion, it's not as arcadey as other NFS, but not sim either. I'd imagine a slightly more realistic Paradise. With all the modding options of the first MW.

I LOVED the first one, so have been looking forward to this

Just arrived this morning, so will play it later and probably upload a video on it!

Anyone else planning on getting it?

I'll be buying it next Friday for the PS3. Really looking forward to it. Shame it is out on the same day as ACIII. I'm not sure which one I will be playing.

I love NFS and Burnout games, and I think this looks like a blast. However, the thing that's really pissing me off (even though I know it's quite trivial) is the name. Most Wanted ain't even ten years old yet. Surely they could have called this Most Wanted 2, or Most Wanted *Insert Sub Sub Title Here* instead?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

    Game is class!

Soundtrack is awesome, and the car sounds are amazing. Especially in Tunnels etc...

Haven't unlocked much yet, and the online servers are a bit glitchy as they're not public yet, but was playing with a mate there and it's really good craic

Cons would be the EA Multiplayer login. Annoying as usual, and you need an initial code just to go online

    Did you play NFS: HP?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

    Yeah

This looks class but ended up getting board of Hot Pursuit. Can you mod the cars in this? Looks like it will be best in online mode.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

You can unlock upgrades from races etc and as far as I can see, you can mod stuff. Even down to the license plate. But haven't messed with that area yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,381 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Can't wait to get this, it will probably stop me playing AC3!

HP gets boring indeed. Tallon is this game going to be two player? Or just single player with MP online?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

No, it's just 1 player, and 2-8 online

Here's a quick video for anyone interested. Slightly NSFW language :/

What's the soundtrack like? If it's anything like the soundtrack for the 2005 Most Wanted I'll be happy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

    Pretty good tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

Got it yesterday, first NFS since the original Most Wanted, wasn't a fan of the other versions at all but I got this too for the novelty of seeing my mate's name in the credits.

Haven't played too much but I like it so far, soundtrack is pretty good and looks great at 1080p. Normally in racers I'd have to turn the music off as they were usually muck and consisted of bland indie or tween music that would make me cringe.

But, good grief, I'm rusty at the controls of a racer. I wouldn't mind but I've been playing most of the Burnout games for the past year so my reaction times should be fairly sharp! :pac:

Only thing I'm not fond of is just the 2 camera views you have; Normal chase view and the bumper view. I normally select the bonnet view or one that's a little bit raised from the road as I race a hell of a lot better that way. No big deal, though, as I'll adjust to the bumper view quickly enough.

Does anyone know what file format music should be to get it to work in custom soundtracks on the PS3?

I know the console versions of this game render at 720p so I take it you have the pc version. I heard you have to apply some kind of patch to run at 1080p on PC though. Is that the case and is it easy to do?

I didn't anyways, installed it, started it up and it was already on 1080p.

I find it annoying that I am constantly signed out of Autolog. I have to keep going into the menu to log back in. I'm playing on PS3. Anyone else having this issue?

Another thing I'm not overly find of is the cops roaming the city. When I first saw the game I thought it was a great idea. But now having played it I realise that the cops are just an annoyance. You're just cruising the city looking for gates, billboards or 'Jack spots' and then you have to avoid the cops after driving dangerously. When are you not driving dangerously in this game?

Those small issues aside I'm enjoying it. The single player races are tough and the multiplayer has been a blast so far.

I keep getting disconnected from autolog aswell.
Cops don't bother me. The takedown writing across the screen does as it gets right in the way

The game is about getting away from the police and you're complaining about the police in the game?!

    Wtf

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

find the car handling very heavy, like no matter what car they turn like a trolley in a river of ****. using 360 pad on win8 and i cant seem to find that right balance to let me drive well.

basically i keep crashing into stupid things that are totally avoidable

It's not all about the cops though. I'm happy trying to avoid them during races. It is great fun during the 'Most Wanted' races. But when you are just exploring the city it would be nice not to have to worry about them. Especially when you are trying to get to the start of a race and you then get the cops attention after you've driven all the way to the start line.

right. PS3. this is a mess. the game is brill, typical nfs handling and graphics. autolog keeps disconnecting. play single player long enough to get in a pile up and you will freeze. after 4 hours of leveling up, i switch it on today and the game is acknowledging my progress but starts me off at scratch, with the poxy intro that you cant skip. hot pursuit was never this buggy at launch. im really disappointed with this. i was so looking forward to this game. a patch cannot come soon enough. sloppy EA, very sloppy.

'Most wanted' as in by the police!

Buy nfs underground pr midnight club if you want to drive around!

That sounds very annoying. I'm playing on PS3 myself and haven't had any of those major issues. I do keep getting logged out of Autolog myself. That is a comment I keep seeing around different forums. Hopefully this is just a teething issue.

    Not sure.

Wifi pad with receiver should be fine. Works for everything else.

Car just don't seem responsive in the turns. Maybe that's the driving model idk but annoying me.

Hardly the res and fps would it? hmm.

Are you drifting? You're supposed to drift most corners, it's not a simulator

Ah yea I know its not! :P

Prolly not as much as I should - but I should still be able to come out of a drift and not crash into whatever object is there - just seems like the car isnt responsive enough which I would have expected from a non-sim.

I find all the cars very different to each other, maybe that's what you're experiencing?

When you start to upgrade them and play the game more, it should become more responsive

Yea could be. I've just been cruising around hitting billboards and finding hotspots.

Only did one MW race and a small handful of car races
