Possible pickup problem on Martin?

Hi all,

I have a fairly new Martin semi, and notice on the 1st E string, it sounds ever so slightly "weaker" than the rest of the strings. It's not noticeable when playing chords, but you do notice it, if you are playing lead, and go from the 2nd B string onto the E, there is a slight drop in sound.
Anyone ever experience this? I assume it's the bridge/saddle that could be the problem?

changed strings lately?

I had a similar problem on a Turner about 10 years ago. the saddle and UST had slipped slightly.

take off the strings, pull the saddle, blow any dust out and reassemble.

I did change the strings aye. I wouldn't go near the saddle but will get a tech to have a look.......

Ensure the saddle is seated properly and that the piezo strip or whatever the undersaddle is is positioned correctly. As you said it is a new guitar Im going to rule out the underside of the saddle not being flat.

If that doesnt work then take to a tech.

I found I had a similar problem on my electrics, I tried raising the pickups on that side of the strings but found opting for a higher gauge of string for the high E sorted me out. e.g using a set of .10s I would replace the .10 with a single .11 and leave the rest. The high E became more prominent

Yeah, will take it to a tech to be sure. It's fairly new, and could be just that, with the saddle........
