Flu Vaccine 2012/2013

Really want to get the flu vaccine this year but I'm not in any of the 'risk' categories...like over 65 or pregnant or have any illnesses.

I'm wondering is the vaccine optional, can I get it if I want it? Is there any possibility that the doctor will tell me its not necessary and won't give it to me.

Also is it free if you have a GP visit card? I don't have a full medical card.

Anyone experiences are much appreciated, is it worth it, many side effects etc...

You don't need to be in a at risk category to get the flu vaccine. Your doctor should be able to give it to you. I'm not sure if its available yet though.
If they don't have enough of a supply they might prioritse it to risk categories.
I'm not sure about the cost. The best way to find out is to phone your doctors surgery and ask.

I usually get the vaccine through work.
