Getting going with some salt water fly fishing gear purchases. What line WEIGHT should I be going for to fish from south-east coast rock marks for pollock and bass (I am thinking 8)? is sinking, intermediate, or floating the preference?

    insights appreciated

Id say an 8 weight is a the best all rounder. I have a floater and a sinker, you deffo need the sinker to help get down if your fishing deeper water the floater is used for surface lures etc.

i like to use a long leader with weighed flies on a floating line. i find i
get a better hook up with a floating line. Ive lost a lot of fish using sinking
lines, because of having to lift the line from underneath the water.
