    Free Timeform Card for Donny

Hills are even money Camelot tomorrow from 10am. They'll lay 5,000 bets, only to a max of €25 but as they say, edge is edge ;)

    1/2 Camelot

    1.44 to lay

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

    1/2 Camelot

    1.44 to lay

Pays 2.4% on turnover (assuming 2% commission with Smarkets) for an afternoon's work if anyone wants it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

Had a grand on at 1/2 with Stan James

Laid €1,056.34 back at 1.44 on Smarkets

Am I right saying you have made €36 from that?
Not having a pop at you, you must have a lot of disposable income to move it around

    I'd €1,500 on at 1/2

Laid €1,586 back at 1.44 (liability of less than €700) so total turnover is just under €2,200

Win or lose pays a tad over 2.4%. I've my betting bank in a separate bank a/c for this very purpose so that tying up cash arbing & punting doesn't affect my day to day cash flow.

If you've cash sitting in a bank a/c you'd be doing well to get 2.4% over a year after DIRT

Think money back is in the form of a free bet though

David Williams neglected to say this on ATR this morning

    Guess Camelot's SP

I'm going with 2/7 (I'd actually typed 1/3 but changed it) but his Betfair SP will be in excess of 1.4

    2/5

Getting a bit lost in the triple crown buzz is the fact that Ballydoyle are going for a clean sweep of the english classics too.

Lemaire interviewed on ATR gave the impression Oxx was very confident of a Hartani win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

Hopefully Camelot can make history here

C'mon Camelot. Two Triple Crown horses from Ballydoyle would be something else. Only class act in the race really. Ground is quite good, right?

It seems to be quite fast

The time of the first race wasn't far off the course record

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

The Portland was a course record

Surprised Ballydoyle didnt put in a pacemaker.Have Thought Worthy done each way but want Camelot to win.

    2/5 Camelot

1.5 on the machine, the usual nonsense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,068 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

That's why triple crown winners are so rare.

    The horse could have won.

I hate the usual crap about criticising the young jockey, but my god he doesn't help himself sometimes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 493 ✭✭mixed up

I think joseph o'brien cost camelot the race.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

Needed a run when Encke went for home, was checked slightly and could have made the difference

That man should be riding in donkey derbies. If i was his auld fella i'd horse whip him. Useless. I had no money on the race.

Very poor ride on Camelot, he took far too long to get him out. Not sure why he rode him up the inside when he could have angled him out as they swung in.

Never got going either though, very disappointing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,886 ✭✭✭MoscowFlyer

He tried to get up the inside but there was no gap, had to hold back and wait for another gap on the outside. Cost him a decent bit of ground and Barzelona capitalized as any good jockey should. He got the jump and the distance was too big for Camelot to close down.

Commentators heads are up their asses as usual

I'd agree with Francome. The horse wasn't travelling that easy but that Joseph kid is a bit too cocky for me.

Going up the inside cost him. Bazarlona got the gap first and made it work.

Joseph thought he'd run all over everything else in the race.

To be fair, I don't think he is cocky at all. he looked gutted after the race. The horse didn't travel as smooth as previous but he did get checked up a couple of times and maybe a better position would have got him home by a nose.

you are all talking through your pockets! the horse didnt pick up. wasnt good enough on the day. overrated horse anyway had beat nothing.

I doubt many of us had money on a 2/5 shot so hardly talking out of our pockets.

On the day no! he had so much time to pick up and just didnt. say it was a poor ride all you want the winner deserved it today

losing momentum due to the slight check and having to pull out to the middle of the track,

I still dont think he would of won, even if he never got into trouble, the turn of foot was not there.

can't imagine too many people on here were punting a 1/2 shot tbh (arbers aside)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,173 ✭✭✭hucklebuck

Aidan seemed very rattled there, not sure if he is fuming at Joseph, he kept putting the blame at his own door.

Never back anything that short, he didn't pick up like he should have but even at that if he was close enough he visually has a quicker cruising speed than Encke.

I feel for Barzalona, the silence is unreal even when he collected the trophy.

There's a big difference between taking credit away from the winner and suggesting that the second horse wasn't good enough.

he lost his stride trying to get out and it took him untill the last furlong to pick up again, bad ride from Joseph

I thought all the answers he gave were steering the blame away from the jockey. But what father would want to put the boot into their own son.

ps ..how many times did he say "listen" ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,173 ✭✭✭hucklebuck

Francome going on about Camelot always travelling, I thought his goose was cooked in the Derby as they were swinging down the hill and look what happened

If by our pockets you mean the investment of our time, effort and love of the sport well then yes we are talking from our pocket. Everyone who loves horse racing had an investment in this horse in this race and while that is true it's easy for you to say that such an investment is clouding our judgement when actually it's just because we disagree with you.
