Finding Societies...

    Hi all,

Just a quick question. I was thinking about joining a society to meet a few more people around college, but on the website I could find content about societies, but no actual list or how to join (other than see them in freshers week) or anything like that.

Is there a list of societies around with contact details and / or a brief description?

Also, as a mature student (29), is it weird if you don't know many people in college and show up to a society, is it cliquey, or would they make an effort to befriend an ould fella like myself?

    Society recommendations also welcome.

    Cheers!

Here's one of the most comprehensive lists: http://www.ucd.ie/socs.htm. Most of the decent societies have websites listed there and should have contact details on the site.

No society can take members until Freshers' Week starts, next Monday, but they should all have a stand at the Freshers' Tent, which has actually already been put up in the car park behind the student centre. So head there next week and you can talk to people and join any society.

Look up Facebook as well, most decent societies have Pages or groups where they keep people up to date.

Ah cool, cheers for that. For some reason I thought all the signing up was done last week  don't know why! Thanks for that, I'll head over and check it out. :)
