Physio as you'll most likely end up been refferred by the GP, save yourself the time & expense!

IMO and experience with knee problems, most knee problems are internal. If you go gp you will prob get send to hospital for x-ray and then you will get appointment to see hospital physio, which could take a while(unless you've private health insurance).

I'd personally go to Physio as they can bend your joints and check for acl, cartilage tears etc and you will get to see Physio straight away.

have had knee problems for years, go to the doc he will probably send you for an xray but if you have health insurance get it scanned as that will give a full picture, if you don't have health insurance that scan will cost 200

Or go to someone that could possibly help instead of wasting money on GP & time on a waiting for an MRI. Physio's can refer for MRI's if needed!

sure a physio is just as expensive and from my own experience they are very hit and miss, much better to see a doctor

Get yourself checked out by a doctor a.s.a.p. anything with a load-bearing joint like your knee can lead to problems later on if it's not addressed quickly e.g. if you have a bit of cartilage sitting in the joint or something.

You have to get a referral letter to go for MRI. Once you have letter you can get it done wherever you want. That's what I did anyway. I told them I wanted a referral letter n went to private health clinic n payed for it, got it done the next day.

The sports surgery clinic (ssc) in santry dublin have a diagnostic department. Make an appointment with them. Surgeon does the consultation and will arrange the mri if required. I,ve used them and found them very helpful.
Your choice really don,t wait to long though. Also stop the weights and certain exercise, no point making it worse.

I'd recommend Santry also having been there a few weeks ago, but getting an appointment may be difficult enough if looking for anytime close.
