Very good, if you use webbing straps you could get them tight and more easily removed/adjusted. I expect more and more people are getting rings so may have straps.

I was doing shrugs before with those same 20kg plates. To get more weight I had a single dumbbell loaded on one side. i.e. I think I first put on 2x10kg plates, then the 20kg plate, and then the metal spinlock just barely went on. So now I held it at my side and the dumbbell handles was sticking out away from me, and only the spinlock collar was close to my side. You could probaby wrap a towel or something around it if it was rubbing against you.

I have also used a tricep bar for shrugs. Holding in the middle

I think two of those tricep bars would make excellent farmer walk handles.

They do indeed. And with the addition of some "Fat Gripz" you can get a really challenging grip workout.

Was about to buy 2 pairs and they're €90. Not a hope.

Thank god I have a pair already!

Is there any cheap chinese knock offs? Surely the country that sells Hi Phones for 30 dollars should have someone making them

2 pairs is £59/€75 delivered on the fat gripz site. There's a discount on the second pair.

People go on about supporting Irish business, but its not like an Irish company is making them, they are just taking a cut. They might even be dropshipping, i.e. not holding stock of them and just passing your order onto fatgripz direct.

you could try wrapping something like a rubberised bandage (non sticky version) around the bar to increase the diameter, would be easy to remove and layer up/down to change the diameter

Boots sell a blue one (http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Pharmaceuticals-Cohesive-Support-Bandage-7cm-x-4m-_1121245/) and physio needs have a few different ones
