Heard Burger King had opened in Carlow. Not a fan myself but wouldn't object to one opening in Kilkenny.

I think Spar opening on High Street was a good idea. A decent convenience store was badly needed in the town centre.

Definitely. Especially during the summer. Not in it yet but hope it has a very good deli like the ones in Dublin.
Don't think there's anywhere for them (BK) to go in KK. No units I could think of to accomodate them, i know there is/was a drive thru planned for the Bennettsbridge road Applegreen but who knows if that may even happen??
MacDonagh Junction no space plus Eddie Rocketts already up there. There's not a glut of large empty retail units in KK at all. Only one I can think of is out in the Loughboy retail park beside Meubles. Which has strict uses relating to planning/zoning.

The shopping mall that connects high street and James street?

Or maybe the AIB bank? We all know the banks days are numbered. They want us all to use machines.

True that whole building is a shocking waste of time/space. Has unreal potential to be totally upgrade (i.e. gutted) and attract a decent mix of large and small retailers. They obviously own the building for years and not too bothered about investing. Was a half-arsed attempt about year 2000.
They had/have some half-baked idea to turn into a slot-machine place which i'm totally against, really hope the re-think that silly idea.

Reckon AIB will stay there, a lot of that building is regional bank offices.

Give it 5 years an AIB and other banks will all conduct business online. They are all doing there best to reduce staff and educate us to working with machines. There pilot scheme in Dundrum and the introduction of machines in AIB and BOI in Kilkenny show this. These building will soon have an alternative use in years to come. This will help reinvent town centres in years to come. Look at the Left Bank.

How about this building for your Burger King.

That NIB unit is ideal! Did I see a sold sign on that lately?
Yes, probably true. Retail High st banking is on borrowed time...

Interesting to see/what goes in there. It's a prime pitch beside the Castle.
I miss their ATM, was dead handy never had a queue :pac:

No no, dores will be moving, an empty unit on the corner of james st, ideal for BK or the start of the rebuilding the centre of Kilkenny, empty arcade, not too many shops in the cross, has someone eyes on a redevelopment>
We could do with Loughboy being changed to allow different stores.
We need a Debenhams, Marks And Spencer, House of Fraser, an Argos with access, a larger Boots, HMV all in all how about Brown Thomas?
We need quality stores not hip hop joints.
Perhaps a new supermarket group like Sainsbury or Asda hey Joh Lewis just right for Kilkenny.
By the way merry Christmas to all, look forward to 2014, and hopefully an absence of collectors on the High St.
    Santa Foxy on the move

I was saddened to see Barratt's in the Junction close up this week. One of last few shops from Day 1 of Junction's Opening to remain open and now its gone. I'm not surprised though. They always seemed to be running sales.

Anytime I see a Kilkenny outlet, I find it weird that we don't have one anymore.
