I'll move this to reality TV.

I keep forgetting this is on. I watched it last year and it was quite good.

I saw it for the first time yesterday. Really enjoyed it.

The clips from tonights show look great! Deserts including meringues!
I love the show stopper round :P

I love the gay old Irishman. His accent and mannerisms are great.

I love this show, would love to be able to bake like that.

I've never been into baking but I'm addicted to this ! It's made me want to learn how to bake so much. The contestants are so lovely and humble, and it's such a chilled show. My favourite is James, he's brilliant, especially when there are people there with years more experience than him. I was so sad for Stuart last night!

Ah he was barely hanging on in there for the last few weeks!

Is that older man Irish? I can't really place his accent!

Yeah he is - think he has been living in the UK for quite some time though.
I soooo wanted a meringue last night! :P

My housemate produced a box of mini ones from the cupboard while we were watching :D I imagine the ones on the show were slightly better though :pac:

Brendan, yeah – his accent is a mixture of Irish and posh English at this stage! I like him.

This is one of my favourite shows and so far really enjoying this series.

This is set to series record for he wife and I! It's a great show and such relaxed atmosphere about it all..

Really liked the celeb version of it last year also, hope they do it again this year..

Some of those pies looked soooo lovely last night :P
Although when Ryan nearly dropped his on the floor my heart stopped!

My mouth was watering watching the Wellingtons being made, they looked unreal, even the bad ones :D

I love this show so much, myself and my gran watch it every week when I visit her. We missed last night's episode though as we were out a bit late so I'm not reading any posts from today until I catch up :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,383 ✭✭✭emeraldstar

Caught up with at lunchtime. It always makes me hungry though, no matter how nice my lunch is! I had high hopes for the peanut butter and chocolate pie (one of the best combinations in the world of food!) so was kind of disappointed when they didn't like it.

Next week's episode looks rather dramatic!

Wasn't very impressed with the puddings last night to be honest! Although when Cathryns pastry flew off the counter and onto the carpet I nearly choked with the laughter!! :D

That was quite funny alright - I think the nerves are starting to get the better of them now. Poor John and his finger though! :(
I see in the preview of next week he still has a blue glove on so it must have been pretty bad. I thought Sarah-Jane was a goner for sure.

Well he did stick it in the Magimix! Wouldnt have been fair to axe anyone really but 2 next week - hmmmm sorting the men out from the boys now.
    Loving Brendan!

I picked up how to make foccacia from this show last year. I love it, and enjoy having a go myself. Although my oven is **** for baking.

When I was about 4, I was playing with a magimix when my Mam was out. Finally figured out how the blade couldn't turn when the lid was off. So I stick the point of a knife into the depressed safety switch and flipped the switch. My mam came home to me with my hand wrapped in kitchen towel and me watching the telly and crying. Still have the scar to this day!

So be careful of magimixes kids! (and John)

James and Brendan are my favourites too! Think Catherine is so brilliant. I reckon Sarah Jane will be gone next week and maybe the Asian guy (can't remember his name!)

Those doughnuts in next week's episode look unreal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

I love Brendan! Just want to give him a hug whenever I see him, always feel like he's about to burst into tears!

Catherine is nice, she just needs more confidence. Bit meh about everyone else.

Ryan is the Asian guy - won the master baker last week with his key lime pie - although it nearly went on the floor as he was going to display it. Thought he was going to go last week but he pulled it back with that. He is hanging on though!

    The donuts look lush! :P

Loving this format, reminds me of the early Masterchef- which has now nearly turned into a parody of itself.

This is going to sound slightly stalkerish but I love Mary's eyes, they're so blue!

Wasn't overly impressed with the stuff last night - although some of the donuts looked lovely! :p

The show stopper round looked like something they would have made in the auditons or first round - not 7 weeks in!

Was drooling for some donuts!! lol. I think the nerves are setting in for some of them now or maybe they have reached the end of their repertoire

I have emailed Catherine inferring that I would certainly risk it for a biscuit! She looks and sounds like a very interesting woman!

Have to agree, wasn't the best presentations I've seen. I think Brendan is going win it, but the blond lady?? (top baker last night) looks like she is mounting a challenge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

Last night's episode was kind of boring! The show stopper challenge wasn't very show stopping :P

Not surprised at who left either, both of them have been in danger for weeks.

Can you believe her Mum only died recently aged 105!

It was kind of obvious who was going last night, they have both been coasting from the start really.

Danny's kind of been under the radar but she really stepped it up. James has gone the other way unfortunately :(

I love Brendan. I hope he wins! I loved him standing up to Paul a bit about his 70's style :D

    Next week looks amazing!

    Mary herself is 77!

I get the impression that Mary tries not to be hard on the contestants anymore because Paul is so harsh. It's like she's playing good cop to his bad cop now but in previous series she was just as critical as he.

Paul doesn't like Brendan :( I loved his house, it was so sweet. It was a lot simpler than the rest of them I guess! James pulled a total fluke :D

    James is only 21!!

I have warmed to Brendan more and more every week, though I wonder what sort of reputation he had when he fretted about it being ruined after tonights show?!
The shredded wheat roof looked great, but no thought on taste there.

    I can't pick a winner.

James' was actually really good! Derelict chic :P

I really thought it was unfair the amount of praise they gave James for his "showstopper"
It wasnt a showstopper and he made a huge cock up, maybe they were just being nice to him because it was his birthday but it looked terrible and I cant see anyone wanting to copy or let alone buy it!!

I'm sure it tasted lovely but we cant judge on that, only on what we see. I thought John and Brendan had that best showstoppers.

James's crackers also were all different colours and shapes and he wasnt given any negative feedback. Compared to what was said about the others. I really liked him at the beginning but I feel he is 'winging' it now.

I think it will be James and Brendan in the final and James will win.

I've only just watched last weeks episode now. I thought Brendan's showstopper was great! It looked much more professional than the others, even John's. Shame to see Catherine go but she had a terrible week. Looking forward to the semi-final tomorrow!

Really loving this show also, watched last year also, compulsive viewing.

Tv3 are auditioning now for an Irish version. Anna Nolan is hosting. Should be fun ;)

It will be like Masterchef Ireland - not a patch on the UK one. The presenters just dont have the presence of John and Greg. Cant see Anna Nolan being a 'Mary' and how on earth could you top Paul!! :p:p;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 Miss Nell

Love this show! Hope the Irish version will be as good...probably not though! Can't see Anna Nolan bringing the same humor that mel and sue do!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

James is so clever and innovative! He can be a bit out there and risky though. I'm worried for him and the other young guy tonight, think one of them will go.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 322 ✭✭fifi234ie

Hmm I want it all yummy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Poor Danny. I thought John would go but it was a close call.

Dunno who will win between Brendan and James! Both so different with their methods. Love them both!
