Diet advice needed for training

Mornin all. Would be grateful for any advice.

    The story:
I'm around 17 stone (big build, without a big belly, but quite out of shape) and 6'0", and and i have one month of very tough "pre season" before beginning 2 months training for a boxing match. In the next month I need to lose weight, get faster and stronger. I'll be running 2-3 miles flat out every morning (goal of 2 miles in 11-12 mins) and will be doing 6 sessions in the gym per week (3 for weights and 3 for bag, skipping, fast twitch stuff etc).

So what I'm looking for is advice on diet from those with experience. I don't want anything crazy or a crash diet. I want healthy food, that will help me drop some weight but that will still fuel the training properly. I'd rather avoid supplements. So any advice on meal types, food types, intake amounts etc would be very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time to answer! Any advice is welcomed.

Handy11, I'd suggest to do some research on nutrition and come back with what you think is a good nutrition plan and people here can advise.

One point on your training is that its too much and if your coming from a low base and doing all that you won't make your fight you'll end up injured or burnt out. Some times less is more.

I've boxed in the past and training a group of lads for white collar boxing. Is it 3 * 1.5 min rounds? Thats what you need to train for, really high intence bursts for 2.5 mins then rest for 1 and go again. The best training you can do for this is in the ring get as much sparring in as possible, hitting pads is one thing, trying to hit someone when the are trying to take your head off is very different. Conditioning, circuit style trainng, sprints will help.

Cheers Siochan - appreciate the advice. Will be doing lots of sparring in the last 2 months and have had boxing training before. I jnow theres a big difference between pads and hits!! I was training in the first half of the year but really let myself go all summer. I'm going to try and reach a high intensity level for training that is maintainable for this one month period. I know about burning out and injuries etc and I'm going to try and tread the line without being stupid and wrecking what I'd be working for. I just need to cut myself into shape.

Will do some more reading about nutrition. I have a fair idea of what I should be eating from the stickies, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific advice on shedding weight while doing a big push for fitness, especially for a guy my size. Lots of dietary advice to be found for average size people and I'm wondering if I should be following that or do I need something more specific for my weight and activity.

I'll be trying to eat regularly, so as not to be starving at mealtimes. I have a very big appetite!

Breakfast will be porridge and fruit.
Snacks will be nuts and fruit.
Meals I'll have to lower portions, and I'll try to keep a good balance of carbs and proteins. It's here that I'm thinking that there may be specific things I could or should be doing for my specific situation.
I take Berocca as a vitamin supplement.

Am I wrong with the above or would that be generally fine as a rule??

Lose weight, get faster, stronger I would suggest following a primal or paleo style diet for 4 weeks and see how your body reacts, if its working then stick with it. From personal experience and observation of several others, you can lose weight, stay strong and have better recovery. First week or two will be hard.

Your diet posting is vague, I would suggest, fish oil, more above the ground growing veg, varied protein sources, reduce fruit and starch carbs.

That's fantastic - very much appreciated. Will look into those 2 diet types now. It's an area I know hardly anything about, yet it's really important when training and especially trying to lose weight. Again, thanks.
