What the typical nutritional value of a banana?

Trying to bulk up a bit and thinking of adding in a bunch (5) a day, i heard somewhere they were good for this.

Just dont know about all the potassium??

    Cheers guys

Would 5 bananas a day not lead to you getting backed up?

I used to eat about 3 or 4 a day.

Since I started calorie / macro counting I dont eat them as often cos its 30g Carbs to 1g protein.

Im all about keeping protein high, carbs low.

if those macros suit your goals then go for it.

I wouldnt worry about the potassium.

Some days Id eat 10-14 bits of fruit. never "blocked up"

Would eating that many bananas not have the opposite effect to being "blocked up"? :o

I guess so long as the rest of your diet isn't choc-full of potassium, you'll be grand. (So maybe rein in the prunes and dried apricot consumption :D)

A large banana (8") is about 100-120 calories, with 25-30g carbs (as quoted previously). I'm not sure what else you're eating, but if you are trying to bulk up then i would suggest more calorie dense food. It would be easier to eat 1-2 bananas per day and make up the rest of the calories by eating them with a big spoon of natural peanut butter.

This would leave you less full and with more energy to eat even more good food

Personally I would be the very opposite of "blocked up" if I ate that much fruit a day.

Out of curiosity why are you eating so much fruit?

Probably better things to be eating lots of than bananas , lots of potassium and they are slightly radioactive , not that it'll make much of a difference but if you eat 30 of them a day fora few years I cant imagine it being too good!

that being said I eat 3 or 4 a day and have no problems! they're delicious in protein shakes :3

Eh.....does this guy pick is own bananas and kill his own cows? Long trip to a country where bananas grow, I would be eating them in bulk too. Also a lot of unnecessary pec flexing going on.......

Bit more fruit everyday is a good thing as is more vegetable's.
Everything was going good until he got a bit preachy about picking bananas or killing cows! :)

I love his logic. I believe the bananas he is eating are man made as wild ones would be full of seeds so yes, that cow would be getting a bludgeoning.

I remember reading in an issue of Hardgainer about a strongman who used to eat 80+ bananas a day.

As he said, I shit you not!
